In all seriousness, I would be interested in an exact date, too. So far I'm suspecting that the end will be 2014-08-13 23:59 UTC, correct?
    Too serious....

If I knew, I'd have already said something. Calbiri can tell you.

Or maybe I do know.... Nah, i've messaged Cal.

    As stated in the OP
"You will have until 3 (Extended to 4) weeks from now to complete and submit your station." - July 15, 2014
This means that the contest will close August 12, giving everyone roughly 1 week left from now to submit any additional entries.

Just wondering, but why was you so cryptic about it? why couldn't you just say IT ENDS AUGUST 12?

See, the info in the OP was not sufficient. When people say "one week from now" around here, they mean the same day of the week. So I am assuming that the end will be 2014-08-12 23:59 UTC, or will it be a different time (zone)?

I think the OP presumed everybody wouldn't squabble over timezones when they had a 4 week window for entries. If you are working up to the last day, that is just silly. Timezones only account for a discrepancy of +/- 12 hours, so all this squawking about the "precision of the deadline" is really silly.

yes. From what I experience it loads in oriented the way you are facing, so it could be all awkwardly angled. just make sure you press c before you do it, although I am not sure if it is suppose to do that.

    Yes you can!

You can even spawn them on a server where you are an administrator by uploading them like normal ships and using /load.

They will not show in the catalog even in admin mode and will remain there until removed manually from the server's drive.

Don't you need to be in a build block to save them like that though? Is there any other way of using the /save command for that?
I've been exporting the sector because i don't like the idea of leaving a build block on my station, and for some reason doing that doesnt save all the turrets..

That is currently the only way to save a station (excluding a sector export). Also, you are correct, docked entities do not transfer like they do on ships which is a known bug.

So until the planned station-saving system is developed and released the /save command or sector exporting are the current workarounds.

The docked entities should save with a sector export though right? Because thats what i've been doing and i've only got 1 of 8 turrets :(

Really? silly? Is this a joke? I think it should be of utmost importance for the dev team to be specific if they want to be taken seriously going forward with their business. This is a company no? That intends to make money? It will help avoid any arguments and/or confusion that the team would have to deal with instead of judging all these AMAZING stations. I'd hate to have someone submit a station 1 hour too late because the dev team decided to arbitrarily close whenever they feel like it on the 12th.

"If you are working up to the last day, that is just silly" Why is this silly and posting a picture of Gene Wilder from Willy Wonka with stupid words over top of it not silly? Just saying... apologies Tom, I see you are just trying to make light of the situation but I just don't see why all this "squawking" over setting a firm deadline is considered silly.... to me it's just a good idea and not that hard to do either.

Of course if you activated your brain before posting you might have realized that since this is an international contest hosted by a company this, apart from being useful for silly people like me, might be legally relevant in some jurisdictions (like, for example, in Germany).

maybe they should use beat time?

Bro are you even for realizies?

Stop being silly about timezones. SONY / EA have the ability to know what everyone's timezones are automatically and can set these thing sup with a button. Remember this is Starmade - you are a tester - you know this. So I expected more from the players that should know what they are involved with.

You are splitting hairs and derailing this thread. It's supposed to be a contest about stations, not a debate about timezones and how you need "more information". The postulation it is for legal reasons is weak at best. Please impress me.

So show me more Stations :D

I feel like regardless of the day its over, you shouldn't be building on the last day. That's just a bad idea. Upload it before the week even starts and you should be fine. No need to take up every inch of time you've got. At that point it might not matter.

"be specific about time" - you know your timezone. why the the devs need to tell you?

"this is a company no?" - that means they don't have to tell you anyhting in fact

"that intends to make money" - last i checked the game was free and Schema dev's for the love of it but i'd be happy if he did make something form all this work put in?

"it would help if....." - yes you caught on and this is derailing the thread! thanks for finally noticing why i am even saying anything. it's embarrassing for the community to see a tester getting antsy about a 12 hour discrepancy.

"if you are working up to the last day" - you probably should have started sooner

"why is this silly" - in a business environment the timezone issue in a non-issue. it does not come up and we all know what it - to imply nything else is merely condescending

"i see you are trying to make light of the situation" - indeed i am

"over a firm deadline" - we should really not be such sticklers if we like participating in contests. Giving them a hard time because you didn't receive a notice in triplicate with witnesses present accurate to the pentosecond - is NOT a big deal.

    -

    TLDR

    -

The date the contest ends has been stated i'm sure when it happens you will all know about it, so relax.

For the record I love all you guys, but you need to chill ;D

We reallllyyy need to stop making a big deal out of this. + or - 12 hours isn't the end of the world and if it is, get it done faster.

There are things that companies take seriously, like safety, inventory, finances, training. Then there are things that they don't take seriously: like the people who accidentally brought extra plates of egg salad to the picnic because they were an hour late.

No one is going to lose their job over who came late to the company picnic.

This contest is the egg salad. Filled with tasty stations. And we're going to eat that egg salad anyway regardless of when it got there because its still egg salad.

Now... bring me some more egg salad!
