    UPDATE #11 : Light side turrets

    I made some light turrets to cover up the blind spots created by the wing panels. They are really insignificant when compared to the other turrets, but if a ship manages to hide from the bigger point defense turrets by hugging the wings than this thing should be able to damage them. And now, some pics:





    Stats:

    -lenght: 14 height: 7 width: 59
    -394 mass
    -27k shields
    -52k burst damage, reload every 15 seconds.
    -100% power stable.
    -lock-on missiles, 1km range.

    I also updated the images on the main post, if you want to see what they look like from further away.
    Looks great! The turrets have a simple but nice design and are strong enough to take down one of those pesky fighters clinging onto the wings in one shot! And keep up the great work :).

    Looks great! The turrets have a simple but nice design and are strong enough to take down one of those pesky fighters clinging onto the wings in one shot! And keep up the great work :).

    Ok, so I managed to encase the engines properly in time for the trailer!!! However, apart from the engines, there's absolutely no detail (for now). It should be good enough for the trailer, though. Some pics (click the spoiler, I hid some there too):






    And yes, I know, the back platform is desperately crying for turrets :p

    I do like the engines, they could be lacking something, not sure. Do like the patterns and the pointy bits, they work well.
    Also, you might want to break up the flatness of the back with something besides turrets. It needs to be broken up with some sort of detailing. I would suggest putting the middle two engines stacked vertically instead of horizontally if it isn't a pain to gain that height. If not, cut gaps in the armor (and put lights under them), add small domes, make it not flat.

    I completely agree, but I'm not moving those engines :P . I'll do some other stuff to break the flatness.

    I would try to make the outer engines smaller and pointing in a 45° angle sidewards (wedges) if possible. They look like they could burn the wall.
    But it is not my design, so go ahead and add more awesome stuff distracting me from this part :)

    Ok, big update! (Update #12)

    Well, there's obviously the engines that are done:

    But more importantly, I was building a slightly bigger turret to place in the back, which will end up everywhere since the looks are (imo) superior to those of the older point defense turrets. BEHOLD, the Charon M2 turret:





    I tried to capture a much more synthetic/AI feel, and I think that I succeeded! This thing has no systems but has all of the visuals done, I tried to keep it simpler on the details side. Having concise areas of detail that actually looks like it serves a purpose (practical detail) instead of random stuff like the old turret. I might add two small stop beams on the sides of the four main barrels, but that's to be determined. I really like the look so far so I'll see if adding those two beams will change it much.
    I almost forgot, those are missile pods on the sides >:D

    Anyways, as always, leave a comment! I don't know what I'd do without all your feedback :D. I seriously feel like I've gained a lot of experience since the start of this build.

    If you want organic design, do you want asymmetric right and left turrets?
    Just remove the right OR left barrel, make them asymmetric (the right hand is where you have your thumb at the left hand.

    Some crabs have one big and one tiny scissor.
    If human skin is covered by acid, it will remain looking different for ever. Nature isn't perfect, and I think this makes organic ships interesting.

    A few healed wounds, inheritable errors, one more fed/grown than the other...

    I meant organic as in synthetic organic, which wouldn't have all the imperfections that natural organics have. Ok... Organic is the wrong word :p . Think more like synthetic lifeform, like the turret is alive (with the eye, the spine looking thing, etc...) and animated by AI

    But thanks for the honest feedback :) . I edited my previous post to clarify that point.

    You might want to update the main turret so it looks related to the smaller guns, which by the way look wicked.
