Bugs: flicking blocks, server doesn't answer, repair beam, sound stuttering, weapon controller, sele

    I'm playing on Vista SP2, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz, 4GB ram and 512MB GeForce 9400 GT.

    Flickering blocks on NASS
    Sometimes the blocks flicker on the NASS server, disappear and re-appearing. Background and UI are still there, just the blocks sometimes vanish and appear again. Dunno version.

    The following issues are all in singleplayer.

    SP server doesn't answer, vanishing asteroid
    After running the game for a long time mining an asteroid, I get this message: "Warning server doesn't answer (5 sec)". Mining lags a bit, but the game keeps running. After I exit the game and re-enter, the asteroid I was mining disappears. The ship and space station that was nearby remained. I don't recall which version I was running at the time, since I always update to the latest version.

    Later on version 0.09268, I was shooting at another asteroid with a space station nearby. I got the same warning, but the blue auto-saving message came back. After exiting the game and updating to 0.09269, the asteroid vanished again, leaving the ships and the space station untouched.

    All issues from this point forward happened in 0.09268.

    Repair beam location spawning wrongly

    When the left mouse button is held down and the weapon is firing, the beam appears somewhere over the top left of the camera, as shown in this picture. This happens regardless of where the camera is located.

    After LMB is lifted, the beam snaps to the correct location then stops firing.
    Sound Stuttering
    Sound seems to randomly cut out for block placing & removing and ambient ship core sounds. It seems to come back after entering the ship core, then exiting. Version was 0.09268, but probably happened back in 0.09265 too.

    Weapon controllers must be placed in a ship's Build mode to register
    In 0.09268, I must place the weapon controller for any weapon in Build mode to be able to select it in the weapons tab by pressing T. Connecting the controller to the weapon block in either astronaut or Build mode doesn't work, the weapon controller must be plaed in Build mode.

    Selection box lingers
    In 0.09268, do this: Place a weapon controller and link it to it's weapon block. Remove both blocks. Place a new block in the place where the weapon controller was. Select the new block. The purple selection box will still be there.

    Weapon value screen only updating when clicked to
    Select a weapon in the weapons tab. Add new weapon blocks. Press T to open the weapons tab. It will not show the updated value, you must click on another weapon then click back to show the new value. This also resets the ratios you've set for that weapon.

    Explosion damage is not applied to player's originating ship
    Flew a ship directly next to an asteroid, threw a missile with an exploding radius of 12, my ship remained undamaged.
    In singleplayer, saving ships using the "Save in local catalog" results in them appearing in the "Avaliable ships" tab with the owner as "Unknown"
    You cannot modify any settings, nor delete the entry.

    Undocking ships sometimes jitter about
    When undocking my ships, sometimes the heading jitters about for a while, it stops after I move it a bit. Probably caused by the undocking ship returning to it's previous heading, but sometimes happens even if I try to dock carefully.

    Player flung out of a 3x3x3 large cockpit if exiting the ship while moving at more than around 17m/s
    I tried to make a cockpit that leads to an convient escape pod, so I can get out of hairy situations. I seemed to require a cockpit 3x3x3 large to exit the ship and spawn within cockpit. Exiting the ship at speeds of around 8m/s I was stuck on the far wall of the cockpit, which was cool. But increasing the speed results in me staying behind while my ship flies away.

    Annoyance: Player view rotates around their feet
    Kind of annoying if you exit your ship at an odd angle to tear down a pirate ship or to build things.

    Symmetry tool does not mirror block rotation
    Still happens in 0.09269, wedges (and probably docking blocks too) are not correctly mirrored with the symmetry tool.

      This doesnt happen in SP? This is very strange since it\'s a graphics bug and both SP and MP are using exactly the same client/server modules. Bugs of those kinds are hard to debug for me since they strictly depend on the graphics card and drivers. Sometimes updating the card driver helps (if you haven\'t done that already). There might be a slight buffer overflow with factories which causes glitches (especially on ATI), so could you maybe test if that flickering happens when you connect 2 factory inputs together.

    • Save locally in singleplayer: The use of that is only intended for multiplayer (I may have to remove it in sp). To save ships in singleplayer, you can just use the normal save, since it\'s locally as well in this case. The ownership of a structure is strictly bound to the server (the same ships could have different owners on different servers), that\'s why it\'s declared unknown.
    The rest of the bugs don\'t have workarounds, or I have to check them further. I\'ll add them to my bug-list if necessary.

    Oh and for the bug with the asteroids: Please send in a report (with the tool started from the loginscreen after you exit), when this happens again.

    Wait, nevermind: I just reproduced it and it seems like a huge bug: asteroids don\'t get saved properly when edited in any way (mined, blown up, etc)

    Updates on previous issues:
    Flickering blocks
    Saw some flickering in 0.0927\'s SP mode. Seems to happen quite rarely, though I haven\'t been in NASS recently to check .

    Sound Stuttering
    In 0.0927, I seem have stuttering when in Flight mode. The looping ambient sound plays alright, but menu, Anti-Matter Cannon, and missile sounds are cut off. The laser sounds seem to occasionally cut back in when I\'m hitting a pirate ship at around 200m, exiting and starting the game doesn\'t do anything. Then it suddenly fixed itself just now.

    New things:
    Hotkeyed modules randomly disappear
    0.0927, when I bind docking, cloak and radar modules to the toolbar for a bunch of ships and exit the game, upon re-starting the game, most of the hotkeys are unbound. Sometimes one or two hotkeys randomly remain, but usually most of them aren\'t there and have to be re-bound again. Seems to happen whenever I start the game again.

    There\'s a couple other werid happenings, but I can\'t seem to reproduce them. I\'ll post if I find anything though.
