Pirate stations need a serious defensive buff because, wile i do understand this game is in alpha and because of that ballancing isnt exactly the main priority, i find it quite a bit to easy to kill a pirate station with just a few AMC's on a very basic ship. I do know that the rewards from killing pirates will go down significantly in the future but, i still think pirate stations would still reward way to much for little work even if the loot chests were removed alltogether. So i have a basic idea that pushes stations in a direction that i personally would like to see it go. I think that they should be WAY tougher to beat especially by your self (unless you have a "death by lag" sized ship off coarse) and would definatly like it if stations were tough enough that a faction might want to organize an assult in order to saftly and effectivly kill the stations defenders and take the loot for the faction ( if that were the case then i wouldnt want pirate stations loot to be nerfed to make it worthwile for a group of people). I think that this would encorage team play and make factions a more dominant part of the game play (not just a way to prevent people from griefing your stuff) and make it so some cant just get a couple million dollars worth of stuff a few minutes out of spawn.
How this could be done
i think all of these ideas would have to be implemented and more to make it work
Make better designed turrets.
Several things that could potentially make turrets better are to add some missles and shields to them and definatlly add power so you cant just shot there docking unit and effectivly elimate them from the fight, also make there AMC not all grouped up, the AI cant aim so why not make its guns shoot in a larger more spread out array. you would proabbly have to make them bigger( didnt know if pirates could use your turret designes so i just added this part anyways)
Better docking placement
putting turrets facing into the station is pointless, you can just shoot the docking unit and that turret is effectivly dead, instead place the turret facing in a direction were it can actually shoot you and have hull pieces attemting to protect the docking unit+enhancers. Because this would leave a large blind spot, also put turrets on the top and bottom of the station rings to shoot at people just trying to skip past the defenses and hit the faction module. Basically, put turrets where they can actually shoot at you and protect there docking units.
The station itself
wile i think the design is really cool but it creats a lot of blind zones from the turrets, also, adding shields to the station would increase its survivability
Other
Adding pirate ships to the stations would definatly be cool and increase the difficullty of taking out a station also if it could some how increase the chance of spawning larger ships would be good to because small ships are laughable when controlled by an AI

Basically i want to promote team play and eliminate exploits, i understand this probabbly wouldnt get implemented for quite awile because theres other more important things to do.Also, if this has been slready mentioned on the forums then i apologize for making a repeat topic. Mostof the ideas i have for pirate stations becoming more foridable requires the rconomy to be balance so it very unlikly that some one would own a bug ship.
