You imply that it would matter for things as vital and absolutely fundamental as implementation of space cookies on which we already know this game will forever depend on once we'll get it next week.
The statement above is not true.
More seriously, it should be common sense that people should first acquaint themselves a bit with what they want to see modified. Those who usually disregard such common sense are mostly driven by strong first impressions or simply are concentrated too hard on their idea as the best, eager to share it straight away, in which case - unfortunately - they'll ignore threads such as this one anyway.

Define "master the game" then ? How to determine one has mastered the game ? How about people that play it occasionally ? And what about the game's features still being not fully officially documented ?

Because, quite frankly that tends to sound a little like the usual "you're new so don't speak" routine..

See, a playerbase is usually all over the place in terms of skill level and knowledge of the game. Some people might just enjoy the game for a few specific things, and never definitely "master" it. Yet they might have complaints/suggestions that incidentally affect other aspects they're not aware of. Yet that doesn't mean that at least a part of their suggestion isn't worthwhile.

Not to mention, suggestions are often just that, suggestions. They can be used by the devs as-is, in parts, or not at all.

So, the subject of your thread might sounds a little insensitive and maybe even a tiny little bit prejudiced, as far as who should voice their ideas on the game.

I just noticed Yrjosmiel, creator of this thread, made relatively recently two threads in suggestions, one which suggested a thing which is already implemented and one of function connected to a block which also already exists.

I don't taunt nor wish anyone ill but I'd lie if I would say I don't find the irony of this situation hilarious.

After reading multiple threads that suggested stuff that
    a) was at some time in the game (and got rightfully removed)
    b) was already suggested (and rejected)
    c) was and still is in the game
i started to compile a list of things that were in game or already got suggested, after writing it down i then realized that people who rush their suggestions would ignore that list anyhow (like they do the search function) and binned it.

To the OP, I read your post earlier and thought "troll".
The comments following yours are worded in an understanding, almost reaching out to you kinda of way.

Anyway my 2 cents I look forward to watching your masters guide to Starmade, so that newbie errors can be avoided.

Yep, threading in the suggestion forum sometimes requires the patience and integrity of a Buddhist monk...

Not going to jump on the criticize the OP topic.

Here is something to think about. We should welcome their suggestions for a few reasons:

    1. They are trying to add something, maybe its just a first impression they got from the game.
    2. They might have a point, sometimes those fresh eyes see what we have become used to.
    3. It gives the "masters" of this game a chance to educated them, they are hard to find otherwise in a crowd.
Just think about that next time we hear a "wouldn't it be awesome if..." thread.

Ironically, I totally forgot about this thread when I posted another suggestion

I think is for the benefit of the Devs :schema:that this is important.

They have assigned a council of player-testers to guide popular suggestions up the chain to Schine. They have a more robust relationship with their players than any Dev team I know of.
There just are not enough hours in the day for every wild pipe-dream a player can think up. The forums are meant to condense public opinion in a manner that is easier to parse by the Game designers. This is why it is appropriate for us to read and comment on an existing thread rather than wantonly starting a duplicate thread on the same subject. It reduces confusion and bloat.

I may not be perfect but I try to familiarize myself with the history of the game and the state-of-play before making new suggestions. Further it takes time and some maturity to realize that your really cool idea would actually harm game-balance in a bad way.

We should smile tolerantly at the enthusiasm of youth, just as youth should pause and reflect on the wisdom of age.

    Peace,

Preaching to the choir, my friend.
I don't know how many repeat ideas and threads I've seen.
We have a Frequent Suggestions Megathread now, but I'm still seeing repeats and things that should have gone into an existing thread.
But everyone is a snowflake with snowflake ideas (new, unique, one-of-a-kind, special). To bad we are in a blizzard.

just as youth should pause and reflect on the wisdom of age.
If they could do that they wouldn't be 'youth'. :p

Screw you kyle, I do what I want! XD

A more constructive statement is to read the suggestion megathread though.

"Mastered the game" is a pretty extreme way to put it, but the point of knowing how things work before you suggest to change it is mostly still valid. In your example suggesting fleet controls wouldn't really be worth it at the moment, because we don't know how fleet controls work, so either you're suggesting something that's already in progress, or even if it's something the devs didn't think of it's kinda too late to change now. Really, for work in progress features like fleets, quarters etc you're better off waiting to see how they work and people play test them some before trying to think how to change them.

I also think the op was more talking about things that would affect the game balance more than anything. The suggestions forum gets a lot of ideas from people who want to "fix" something without any real idea how the game's balance already works. It's just one of those things that someone who knows what works and what doesn't probably has a better idea of how to balance the game then someone who doesn't.

Universe suggestions etc are a little different, but it's probably a good idea to check through the forums, dev blogs etc to see what's already planned, what people have suggested etc if you don't want the suggestion forum clogged up with several identical suggestions for things that are already on the way.
