    Ash and Fire is the culmination of several month's work put into creating a set of principles and ideals that will hopefully work to create a new experience for StarMade, offering conflict, rich with immersive roleplay and conflict, catering to people of all walks of live, from rouge traders to empire-building conquerors.

    Rules:
    Ash and Fire‘s rules are very relaxed and designed around personal freedom. However, as a role-play server we do have some rules in place to ensure proper and fair play. Honor is what we rely on here, and dishonorable practices will be met with harsh punishment.

    1. Honor

    While combat is often times a very disagreeable affair between players, Ash and Fire‘s goals dictate that no matter the circumstance, combat should always be agreed upon between players. Suffice to say, however, that methods such as trickery or fighting for the highest bidder are allowed. There will be no repercussions for being outsmarted, as such, any attempts to bring punishment down on another player for outsmarting you will be met with little sympathy from the administration. While if the admins do believe that there is foul play, they will investigate accordingly.


    2. Responsibility

    Bans are a rare in unpleasant affair in StarMade’s community. Rule breaks are more common, but punishments are often times more relaxed than a total ban from the server or forums. We take a very hands-off approach to enforcement of the rules. If someone owns up to breaking a rule, they are far more likely to receive a lesser punishment than if they lie about it. Cases will be dealt with by an individual admin, if that admin’s judgement is found in the wrong, the admin team as a whole will investigate. As stated in the above rule, admins will not act encase you are outsmarted fairly.

    3. PvP and Combat

    All bets are off here. You may agree to equal ship numbers or forces, however there is no reason that this must be adhered to. Not honoring such an agreement will be looked down upon by the community, but otherwise there will be no punishment. We do have a few rules to be abided by.

    • 3-1. Ramming
    Large ships ramming each other is not allowed. It causes immense lag and can crash the server. If this is found to be intentional it will result in a one-week ban. No appeals.

    • 3-2. Planetary Destruction
    Destroying planets is not allowed. It creates a mess and causes the server database to bloat with additional large objects. If the issue is discussed with the admin team and found to be conductive to the server, then it may be allowed once.

    4. Roleplay

    Ash and Fire is a role-play server through and through. Transgressions such as repeatedly speaking out-of-character in the in-character chats may result in action, and metagaming will be a permanent ban. Please see our role-playing guide page if you need help.

    5. Miscellaneous Rules

    Anything lag-inducing is not allowed. Using a ship to mine planets, landing large ships on planets, or otherwise intending to cause lag on the server is an immediate week-ban. Mining planets by hand is still allowed, and there is even a large bonus for mining by hand. Traveling to other galaxies is not allowed. It causes excess server bloat.
    Ash and Fire offers two starter ships: a combat frigate and a medium cargo ship. Both ships have a example interior, fitting up to six crew each.


    Mule-Class Medium Freighter
    Designed during the Expansion Epoch of the Domain of Man, the Mule-Class offers heavily armored cargo bays and a simplicity that allows easy replication and repairs, along with modification, sporting a fast-charging jumpdrive, eight heavy fusion thrusters and a state of the art shielding system.


    Avenger-class Battle Platform
    Designed during the Fall of the Domain, the Avenger is a durable combat frigate mainly used by what could be described as 'angry space hippies'. Fitted with sixteen rapid-fire missile flak turrets and dual heavy beam cannons, the Avenger is fitted with a large thruster and jumpdrive, along with a heavy shield and spacious hull that offers room for expansion and modification.

    This sounds incredibly ill advised on a "PvP" server :/

    It is not specifically a PvP server. Other occupations are offered and not severely nerfed.

    Lots of rules restricting PvP for a server that says it's got a lot to do with everyone.

    Also, how can it be a completely roleplay server where you must always be in character and yet have a primary focus on PvP? What? Advertise it as an RP server with PvP elements, don't say PvP unless you're actually going to have PvP be a goal, and not a side attraction.

    Is water modified to have no collision? (Would that be a standard change for RP servers?)
    Also what is the stance on ships that have the trick for docking stations blocks like refineries and such? (With modded heavy mass of course)

    As far as i am aware, water has no collisions in the vanilla game. Refineries on ships are not allowed, since they're technically exploiting the game.
