Are planetary fragments still immortal?

Finally established enough on a new server after my old one shut down, to the point that destroying planets is on the table again.

Question is, do planetary fragments still stay on the map indefinately? Last time I nuked a planet and ate the plates, their markers on the galaxy map never went away...

I'd like to blow up the Planeta in my system (easier to eat them that way), but I hate having my map littered with all those markers.

Thanks for the heads up, guess I'll just wait till no one is on, MI e them to the core, and leave what's left in orbit.

You may search for a report about that problem here -> http://phab.starma.de/

and if there isnt one to be found with a few search terms, someone could make a bug report about it.

They remain, and it drives me bonkers.

I'm just gonna hijack this thread for a public service announcement:

Dear planet miners, blowing up the planets core before mining the segments significantly reduce the lag produced, please do so.

The issue is the fact the markers don't go away. >_> Other than that I can make a doomsday satellite I can leave over a planet for a while and just wait.

I know I just felt compelled to put that there because people who mine planets would be likely to view this thread and I wanted them to know. It reduces server lag by a lot and gives you a legit excuse to put a huge planet cracking laser on your miner. Whats not to love?

Well, for one the fact that you end up with a dozen planet markers on your galaxy map that never go away, even if you completely eat the plates. I don't know if that makes me OCD, but it drives me crazy seeing my map cluttered up with planet markers for things that don't even exist anymore.

Really, no one had that on the log? Could have sworn they did.
Oh well, if Jorge is reporting it, I won't make a duplicate.

But yes, if you blow up a planet, the plates fly out into space and get their own planet symbol on the map. After you eat them, the markers stay on the map, and I think they even stay in your nav-com.

Figured out if the sectors are large enough you don't get to see the plates showing up annoyingly on the map forever. :)

Planet plates should have a decay timer on them if you blow the core, after a certain amount of time they either turn into roids if the sector roid % is low or dissipate into the void.
