I think that current command "extract resources"
Is uncomfortable, because ships will mine only that sector which you declared.
How about do it like order "defend"? That they mined sector which you declared and all nearest sectors.

I think what you are saying is 'protect/guard and mine quadrant' of some sort. Yes?

It sounds like he wants the mine sector command to operate like the defend command in that the fleet will look at the sector they are in/commanded to + the immediately surrounding sectors in a 3x3 box centered on the selected sector.

So a mine sector command would mine not just 1 sector, but 27 sectors.
