    Hi Schema and Schine,

I see a few existing posts referencing logic and transfer.

    Display Blocks upgrade
    Display Blocks upgrade
    Logic copying display blocks
    Logic copying display blocks

Would it be possible to make a more advanced display block with the following features and attributes?

    • - Logic connectivity, for status displays of computers, storage, circuit outputs etc.
    • - Content transfer between display blocks, where you can transfer the display content using the same methods as controlling the orientation of rail basics or similar to storage where you can move the contents back and forth between storage blocks with rules.
    • - Content from text or XML files stored within the database folder for larger content and easier update maybe.
    • - Slab options, to provide smaller display screens. I understand the existing slab method uses a trick by altering the dimensions of the cube, so this display may actually be a bit tricky to pull off in the same way. So, may require a new method altogether.
    • - Transparent 1/4 slab for total transparency for things like HUD style displays in the cockpit or near windows
    • - Different colour screens, to match themes of the vessel or structure. Would be great for faction based standards.

Below are a few mockup examples of the slab idea I had with a transparent screen, ultimately providing a HUD style transparent screen when reduced to a 1/4 slab. The idea is, the screen would be solid when a 1/2, 3/4 and full cube, but transparent when 1/4.

You don't need 4 links to an album.
And they don't work with new-lines between letters.
    Fix, using Firefox:
    1. Select both lines
    2. Right-click
    3. Choose "open link in new tab"

For the lazy, I've made a working link:

BTW: the album is sorted the wrong way: #1 being last and #4 being first.
Lone_Puppy : Do you know imgur.com? I prefer it over photobucket because of better content-placement.

The carriage returns was me copy/pasting from Notepad with the word wrap turned on. Plus the original post was done through Chrome that added additional lines again. Had to edit it with IE to fix it. :-(

Great idea! Would love to see transparent Display modules, but I know I've heard similar functionality requests submitted before. I think in general, people want to see more flexibility for display modules, and more functions for them. For example, Math calculations and functions built in and making them link-able to most systems in game. Weapons included.

I want a way to store information without wasting 2.3 blocks per bit (used to be 10 blocks per bit pre-flip-flops but it is still too much).

I like if there would be anything to compare display blocks to check a password and transfer passwords just like on/off into flip-flop or activation block.

I believe a display block overhaul is already planned. I don't know if that includes different shapes/models, tho.

What about a display block that you can connect to the cameras you place on your ship ? So you can see video inside your ship of everything that is happening outside your ship? Like a Star Trek view screen? I wonder would it be possible to connect multiple display blocks together to make one big display and the information appear on the larger screen created by connecting multiple screens together.

Lol. I mentioned something similar here... Planned - No more being sucked into ship cores; cockpits!

Necro bump - I do realize. But it's a worthy subject, it's quite obvious that SM could go a long way should this be implemented.
