I wear a compass, not a watch. It is more important to know where you are going than how long you have been lost.

      Planets: Discs or Balls?

Can we at least agree that for as long as planets generate tremendous lag they remain useless at any size? Given that the lag issue must eventually be fixed...we want 'em big as can be.

      Building Civilian Structures

It is fair to say that his should not be only method of rating buildings & cities but I think it has a place in the options. True not all admin will want more 'duties' to perform but some would really run with idea. Absentee admin: Building judging would not have to be a constant chore, more...

      Build Mode Camera Entity

There would be an added bonus too. During a co-build it would allow you to see the other builder's location a make cooperation easier.

      Gee, size matters...who knew? :giggle:

      Planned Missile Lock Alert

First, firstly ...is not a word. If you are going to start quoting logical fallacies don't use a straw-man argument to do it. If your judgement comes off cloudy, stop arguing emotionally and make good points. I could care less about who agrees with whom. Secondly: also...not a word. So...

      Building Civilian Structures

A culture-win...how Civilized. ;) A city should win it's rank by impressing the admin of a MP game. (No idea about SP) The admin deserve the voting privilege automatically. Voting rights could be decided as part of the server set-up. Maybe use a minimum sized building (with windows & doors)...

      New Player Please Help

There may be a helpful computer guru willing to advise, but you will need to quote some system specs of your computer. I suggest starting in single player mode until you get the kinks worked out. A three block ship should be nimble and easy to steer/accelerate: check your key-bindings. It...

How the NPC update makes fuel (and money!) viable

Over time I have come around on fuel as it's potential usefulness. I don't have some grand system figured out but rather guidelines for consideration. These are just opinions & ideas. Use as you see fit. Things to avoid when designing a fuel system: -Fuel should never require grinding to...

      Planets: Discs or Balls?

This sounds like a good compromise. I like.

What are reasonable and enforceable limits to reduce lag in multiplayer?

Mega factories can lag me out when I get too close. Standard logic is not too bad but there is a tipping point for everything at a certain scale. [Good on you, mate. Here is a little drama that plays out regularly on PvP servers.] Noob: 'Help, I'm being attacked by some jerk at the...

Deflector and FAKE (visual effect) bubble shields

I like the fake bubble-shield idea. It seems plausible and I would consider it useful, tactically. (y) Not too sure about the deflector thing though. Wouldn't it need to do a bunch of collision checks...just to avoid...those...collision checks? :cautious:

      Planets: Discs or Balls?

'Round' planets may have sounded like a good idea but are they really an improvement? The current planets are laggy due their being assembled from 12 plates. They are not round as such so they don't actually look that good. I would argue that they look no better than the old version. There are...

      Building Civilian Structures

Epic scenery and cities are something that Minecraft has in spades...and are virtually non-existent in SM. I pine for the days of larger planets with burgeoning cities or caverns to explore. Starmade has a great building system but lacks in visuals department. Here is issue in a nut-shell...

      Planned Missile Lock Alert

As sarge would say: "settle down Francis". Hyperbole aside, this is a very reasonable thing to properly distinguish 'Homing' missiles. First off, no, this would not negate stealth tactics. Think about it; the alarm is only going to go off after you have achieved a' lock-on' not just because you...

      Rail-to-rail transfer?

I think you could bodge something together with shoot-out rails feeding a magnetic rail-docker. If that does not work I would advocate for some kind of auto-docking beam (deploy-able by logic or a fleet-order) to allow more docking automation. In other words give an AI-entity the ability to...

      Planned Missile Lock Alert

Agreed. There could also be alarms for enemy boarders detected & hostile transports inside your ship and for shields dropping. Direction indicator for incoming (heavy) fire would also help.
