woo hoo! I figured it out. Thank you for heading me in the right direction. My only problem now is I have a million extra starmade folders and files all over the place i need to try and clean up without deleting my new progress.

Did all that and it just keeps starting a new world every time. I even made several new worlds with different names so I could find where they were being stored as I am getting more and more folders of worlds and I cannot get them to reload either. I am sorry for wasting your time

Well I tried that, still just launches me into a new universe, And deleted the new one I was messing around in. Should I unzip in a new folder the last backup of my old universe and try to load that? Im sorry I am so pathetic

it never crashed though, after I did the new chunk update my world was gone and it just started a new world. I can see the files of my old world in my starmade folder but do not know how to import it. Where do I find the install path?

I guess I did. I tried for a month to get my old world to load. I can see the files on my computer but I am just not smart enough to get it to be the world that loads. Pretty much ruined my love for the game but it is my fault for not being smart enough to work through the bugs
