We won't. There's going to be a rough transition period for a few months, but with AI fleet control mechanics incoming it will be possible, in singleplayer or multiplayer, to have escort ships accompany and defend a cargo vessel. On a sidenote, I think this'll provide the main use for fighters...

I think, like power, this may be an opportunity for some kind of thing that's better but that also explodes. Something like hyperspace storage units. :P

What tantalizes me about this update is the potential for... yarr, harr, feedle-dee-dee... Piracy! Plundering! Profit! Yo-ho! ...There's also the whole freighters-being-a-thing thing, too, but ye get my point.

This is my question as well. Balancing is usually not finalized until playtesting and stuff has taken place. I doubt the devs know much more than you or I do at this point.

So much good news! (Also, the cargo system works in exactly the way I was hoping it did, which means that required changes to most of my ships are minimal at best. My station, however, is a whole 'nother story... I might end up building a completely new sub-station facility just for storing...

Yes, same here. Only problem is that half the time you'll spawn inside the ceiling. Have fun. Meh. It'd be worth it to make teleporting in work with non-up-facing transporters, IMO. Having your transporter beam you down from the ceiling looks pretty damn cool, plus it allows for auto-gravity...

Yeah, I really liked everything about the way transporters worked... Simple, intuitive, and very very strictly predictable*. You can even put a transporter pad under a bunch of blocks and rather than being magically moved out of the way, you get stuck inside the blocks, as expected. I like this...

I'm loving the new Transporter effect and block texture... Why not turn PlexUndeathinators into a red version of the transporter pad block, with a red transporter effect that appears when you get 'undeathinated'? I also much prefer the transporter's "appear on top of the block" mechanic to...

I am pretty much chomping at the bit to go ahead and start building a (new) freighter, but I have to know what cargo accommodations will look like first... Can't help but be impatient. :|

This is basically a bug, or at the very least an oversight. Report it; this bug is technically already a problem.

Yeah, the wormhole effect needs revision. So does the inside-the-sun effect, which also happens to be used inside wormholes for some reason...

...Wait, gravity works with activation gates? o_O I had no idea... Now I will probably automate ALL the gravity :D EDIT: Tested this. Gravity will not work with activation gates, just as it will not with step triggers. Please do not spread false information.
