      My idea is that these gates would stop enemy fire as long as your ships shields were up, as soon as your shields go down, your plasma gates \"turn off\" until your shields regenerate.

      Really nice start! I think that the categories should be: rapid fire(machine gun), heavy fire(rifle), long range(sniper), explosive(rocket/grenade launcher), and multiple fire(shotgun). My catagories are directly related to the effects that the new weapon system does.

      For current planets 25 blocks would be good but once a planet is a whole sector wide then 100m on both sides will be able to be sacrificed.

      With all the new weapons being added different effects are definitely important. I think that factions should also be able to change the colors of their guns so that it is unified like in Star Wars.
