      The scanners need to be 5% of the ships mass to reach some sort of efficiency cap or speed cap or something. Not sure which. I just know it asks for 5% just like jump drives.       Think of it this way. There is no such thing as deceleration. You are accelerating in a backwrads direction while slowing down to a halt. The same applies to any direction. Accelerating in one direction is slowing down in the opposite. Maybe not applicable in starmade, but its scientific fact!

      I gotta agree with Megacrafter. We arent looking at a massive change in the amount of information that needs to be loaded. I think what slows everyone down is the actual rendering of an object. An object which has physics and lighting applied to it no less.

      Look at the ship. Target it. Press tab+F8. It is an admin command that places you inside the core. If the planet does not kill you then charge the jump drive and warp out.
