Exactly :D . The real explanation is probably closer along the lines of: schema messing around with the station procedural generation and leaving it that way because it looked cool.
It would be to prevent some sneaky spies from stealing my ship. If the doors have a lock they won't be able to do much (unless they dig through of course). But not very subtle :p. It would also mean that only I can access the core if I had a crew, idk how I'll solve the digging part though...
Even using turrets (if that's what you meant) and at speeds above 100 already come out as a draw most of the time. I'm talking about the small ships (50-100 mass), not the 4k mass lolfighters.
I think that the version I'll put up for download will be simplified. I plan on creating a ton of security systems and other stuff with the new logic blocks but I'm afraid that it would get too complicated for the average player.

From my experience, fighter fights would just last for ever. Already, why two mostly equal fighters end up against each other it s incredibly hard to even crack the shields.
Instant core drilling is usually done by turrets, and you know why? Because they ALSO benefit from the weapons aiming thing. Disable it on turrets (and perhaps increase their turn speed a bit) and voilaaa, 90% of your problem is solved
If you disable it completely people will just start using...

Just get the person to calculate their own dps. If the weapon has a charge up time then add that time to the calculation. Ex: A weapon does 10k dps for 1 sec with a 9 sec recharge. The true dps is 1k. This applies to missiles as much as amcs.

Oh, I thought you were getting double vision ;) . I wouldn't go above 2km if I were you. Concepts and ideas are nice and all but they take ages to actually build ingame. Anything above 2km also has a tendency to break the crap out of the game.
