If the Galaxy is too big, perhaps the Nebula might work? Still a gigantic saucer section but a much smaller secondary hull. There\'s also the Freedom class, which is a single engine destroyer type. Think the Saladin but with TNG engine and saucer section.
And a bit more, zoomed out so you can see the iconic shape starting to take place.
Upper surface done, now working sides and underbelly.
Filling in the underside and setting up the neck to the secondary hull.
Saucer section now complete!
Underbelly above, and below is a shot of the...
I am not a fan of exposed components, but this is probably zippy enough to avoid most damage I would think.
May I suggest a variant replacing the AMCs with Salvage beams? This would probably make a great little salvage fighter to dock in a larger ship. Zip out after combat is over and...
Some were more successful than others. I guess that I was just being impatient, and so waited longer. When I get back to my computer, I\'ll link a couple of files that did not work.
Your program has a lot of promise!
Which files do I need to download? I don\'t see a \"Mods/Import\" button, for instance.
EDIT: Okay, I think I have everything. I do have a question, does importing an .OBJ file take a long time? Or have I managed to make the program hang... Hrmmm.
Components are 100 hp, no armor.
Hull is 100 and 25% armor, essentially 125 hp, which should stop a shot or two from fighters. Of course something that small is not going to survive large ships shooting at it.
Hardened hull is 200 hp and 50% armor, so essentially hardened hull has 400 hp...
Remember small doesn\'t mean 10m long or anything. The ships you have there have large masses. Fighters should be small, 50 mass or less if you go by some of the ship class guides posted here. Some of your ships are 800 mass, which makes them cruiser-ish in size. Which isn\'t exactly small. XD
But I don\'t feel comfortable in small ships that have engines or power or shields exposed. There\'s no way they can take much damage once the shields drop. And since each block represents a higher percentage of stuff than on bigger ships, once the blocks start exploding, each one is painful...
But the one thing that keeps me from trying them out is the exposed component design in your smaller ships.
There\'s nothing more horrible than hearing *bang*bang*bang* and then seeing your weapon power drop by half because a pirate just sawed through it. XD
There are quite a few \"fan\" ships out there that both look good and pack a realistic punch.
Me, I prefer building sleek, simple designs with enough shielding, power, engine and guns to be able to kill pirates, and do some light pvp.
The conning tower contains a cockpit up top, and the power core below, and yeah I think it would be a prime target.
However, I am thinking of adding armored plates to the front of the ship and conning tower for more protection. I contructed these ships with price in mind, I figured you can...
