I have no criticisms this time. This is great. I don't care about any deadline set to made to make people feel better about themselves.
The music is far more exciting, it doesn't leech onto the same motif repeating over and over again in hopes that it will sound menacing/epic. It actually had...
Nah, I'd say that part of the fun in Minecraft is because of the interesting scenarios and creative solutions to problems (aside from "mine your way out!") that crop up because of it's general lack of rules or goals.
I feel that unlike Minecraft, Starmade has the balls to change itself in big ways, for the better.
(for example, moving away from a pixel style thanks to Kupu)
That's why I suggested speeding the footage up. So that the ship would just zip away and disappear. But you could do it gradually before the ship moves, so the glowey ripples on the ship's hull appear to get faster before jumping.
If jump cuts look less professional, why are they used in movies? :p
I think all the fades gave the effect of making me unsure of what I was looking at for a second in-between shots. That's more jarring than a jump cut imo. But I think using fades in-between scenes (rather than every shot)...
(everything I could have said about the trailer in the op has been said already, so: )
Too many fades during the cinematic parts. I'm not sure why it bothers me, but it does. I think it needs more jump cuts.
The shot of you scrolling outwards in the galaxy map wasn't smooth.
The first shot...
I suggest adding more optional dialogue responses alongside the general "ok" and "goodbye." Just for fun.
When the npc guide tell you to enter a ship core, instead of saying "ok," maybe you could ask him. "Aren't I too big to fit in there?" And he would explain that it's actually a very...
Chairs don't have to be a meter away from the table anymore in the latest dev.
There's a new "tutorial sector," and an npc named "Sitting Joe." I shot the chair out from under him and he fell flat on his ass.
This game is awesome.
Ah, I was referring to the dark areas as "shadows." It didn't occur to me that with actual shadows turned on, the screenshot might look good! I can't say for sure that it's any improvement until you can fix it though.
Will the current default stations be kept when the new stations are added into the game? Will they be changed at all?
The default abandoned station is ok, but it needs wedging. And the rooms don't connect to each other, which is weird.
Wormholes are less op in the latest dev. :)
When you leave the galaxy, can you still see procedural backgrounds? If so, you shouldn't. Or better yet, a galaxy skybox could display behind you! (It already looks pretty awesome when all the background stars not in the skybox form a galaxy shape...
The only problems I've had with it so far are that the gravity around wormholes are super-op. Just stay away from them unless you don't care about your ship. Maybe you could increase the sector size to 2000-3000 to distance yourself from them more. (I think the new default will eventually be...
