Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

That could also work since it makes hull (and especially irregular shapes) contribute to your usable power.

Remove firing arcs. Add targeting enhancements.

As detailed in the OP, if you're close enough for the ship to fill a small area around your crosshair (in other words close enough to aim for a specific part of the ship) the auto-aim shuts off.

      Prerelease v0.200.250

According to Lancake , stabilizers are still being worked on. At this point we'll just have to see what Schema comes up with.

Additive Stabilizer Distance - The Simple Solution

Ideally, it shouldn't be that hard to make something that looks good and functions pretty well, but it should be hard to fully optimize something. That's what makes optimization fun and rewarding.

Additive Stabilizer Distance - The Simple Solution

If you leave the conduits visible and decorate them, bonus points!

      Move jump multi-charge under autocharge

Interdiction should probably be a little easier to get as well.

      Not hard, but interesting.

Additive Stabilizer Distance - The Simple Solution

This is why I believe they need to be connected by conduits. Plus I'd like the challenge of figuring out how to run conduits through the ship.

      Power 2.1 - A Compilation of Ideas

That alone would solve the issues with RP builds versus PVP builds. You could design a PVP ship and make it look like an RP ship. That's the way it should be.

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

You would have to either include conduit connections, or remove any distance-related mechanics. Otherwise you encourage island builds by providing a bonus for distance, but no symmetrical drawback.

      Power 2.1 - A Compilation of Ideas

The ideas are all intertwined. Much of this would have to be modified to use only parts of it. The most unified the dock has ever been: Schema and friends are either going to take notice of this, or make a huge mess, make the game worse, lose a lot of players, and effectively force remaining...

      Power 2.1 - A Compilation of Ideas

Thermal detection just determines whether or not you get a blip on your HUD and nav window. It still has to be big enough to be seen at a given distance, and you have to be looking in the right direction. I'm thinking big ships with no stealth will be visible several sectors away. The bigger...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

Why would you want to? If people want to make a long, narrow ship, they should be able to. It would tend to be rather vulnerable though. Break a big section of conduits halfway along and you lose about half your cooling. That's one possible shape for a glass cannon. Aptly enough, it looks like a...

      Power 2.1 - A Compilation of Ideas

Preface I really like the direction the new power update has taken. The consumption, capacity, power priority, and the chamber system have advanced the game's potential by leaps and bounds already. All that remains is to address the flaws of the system and tweak it to be the best it can be...

      Remove Stabilizers

There is a compromise: making stabilizers do something fun and interesting, or at least making them multi-dimensional to get rid of the needle meta.

      One-dimentional shape exploit solution

This is essentially the same thing that others have suggested here and here, and possibly elsewhere too. It's an obvious solution that can be spiced up as much or as little as Schema wants to. If stabilizers remain one-dimensional, they'll probably be turned off (set to zero distance) on most...

      Remove Stabilizers

Here's a thought. We don't need stabilizers if we change the way SHP works so that extra hull is desirable, because that already removes the disadvantage of interiors or irregularly-shaped exteriors. In power 1.0, systems provided most of the SHP. If you had a large brick of systems, you had...

Heat/Cooling as an alternative to stabilizers and reactor HP

No, it changes the way ships gain structure HP. They are not more reliant on the armor HP bar per se, although armor and structure HP values will be closer in number this way. If this makes ships die too fast, the amount of HP each block provides should be increased. Making RP ships slightly...
