You'll know it's undocked because it disappeared. Go out and redock it or have a mate do it.
Also if you are building without being docked to a faction home or without some sort of defense mechanism in place you better be offline with simulations disabled. Or you're going to have a bad time...
In build mode make it so other structures become invisible. Since you don't need build mode to dock a turret or ship. Your radar will still warn you if another ship is approaching anyhow.
The more entities in a sector the greater performance suffers. This is a fact. If somehow a bunch of the ships had become undocked I could see the issue being much worse.
StarMade is what the server owner decides - based on the community that frequents it. Very few veteran server owners use the vanilla config. Already many servers are very distinct from one another; the active user counts justify their uniqueness.
Otherwise those servers would all disappear...
There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Making your own server isn't hard at all. In fact someone can log into your SP universe if you are on the same LAN. You can also make a dedicated server on a spare box. Or if your desktop is up to the task you can run a dedi, login to it (same as SP actually) then...
Well my involvement began a few posts back and ends here. This is something for the community to build. A project like this demands to be shared and revised. Build one for your needs then put it in the community content. The hub should become as unique as the server hosting it. More template...
I think the territories a faction controls are enough 'big stuff' to prove how influential a faction is. I think every faction should get an equal size plot, something in the neighborhood of 25x25x50. The 5 floors would be symbolic of the 4th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st and Founder clearance levels. Not much...
You don't have the most up to date version. 10.18.10.3574 is the one you need.
Mine are out of date too oddly enough.

goto your start menu and type 'dxdiag'. let it run (it'll have a small bar in the lower left hand corner) and when it's done go to your display tab. on the right hand side it should say 'drivers' and in that box area should be a field called 'version'. I need that number, starmate.
With a dockable building there's no turrets allowed. This make it easy for folks to walk in, join up and not worry about getting jumped by hostiles. If sector protection is enabled it makes the job even easier. Just signup, fly out to your assigned base and avoid anything hostile along the way...
