There are two kinds of factions, in game, and online. They do not transfer. The online factions are very official, usally important, and technically better. The ingame factions are the ones that do stuff, like homebases and faction tags. This isnt Eve, and therefore you dont need to belong...

Thats is \"simply\" a Star Destroyer with a city on it. Still frickin awesome though.

I find it hilarious that the fighter is larger than the Kestrel, with one being a cruiser and the other a fighter. Scale is awesome sometimes. Regardless, spawning a fleet of Kestrels makes for an awesome sight.
