you sure can! with the up and down keys, though note this also cycles through turrets, so if you have turrets too make sure you dock the ship last so you know just hitting down will get you there

Perhaps some of your settings are lacking? I have exrta stars set to 0 and space dust off. It might contribute. setting the BG to highest quality goes without saying.

I'd have to redesign the whole cannon barrel for that, keep in mind that those shots are travelling at such speed (cannon+beam) that you couldn't seem them as clearly as you do here.

Yep, the firing apertures are arranged into a cone shape, because allthe lasers travel at the same speed now regardless of the size of the barrel, it maintains it's cone shape when shooting. I wanted to give the impression of a single, coherent, powerful blast
