I'd suggest you keep the entity count as low as possible to reduce lag and to give swarm missiles less places to lock onto you. Keep a few very powerful turrets, maybe one or two smaller ones, and ten or fifteen point defense turrets, and you should be about good.

Mind posting some pictures of what you're working with? Might make it easier to gauge what sort of guns could be reasonably fit on it.

What's your definition of a cruiser/small battleship? Because I mounted about a half dozen of those on a heavy cruiser and they draw a good amount of power per shot. But GOOD LORD the alpha damage is great. It'll knock most frigates out of a fight in one go, and the turrets alone can handle a...

For the turrets, what I do is I just make it look good, then cram as many systems into it as I possibly can. In these turrets, there's approximately 2-3mil damage per shot. This is only possible because of the setup; you will note that they are missile-beam-overdrive in a waffle pattern...

Please enlighten me as to why I'd need a bay twice as big as the ship to dock it if they rail dockers are on the wings.

Actually it'd be pretty simple to dock, just put the docker on the bottom of one of the wings, or hey, put it on both if you're feeling adventurous. Long story short, there's nothing in this thread that can't already be done with current blocks, save being invisible and intangible, which reeks...

How about you figure out how to dock this one individual ship instead of yelling at the devs to backdate a major part of the game to accomodate your special snowflake condition.

The science and specific details of the ship are irrelevant if the end result is a good, strong ship. In fairness, I rarely test certain systems before integrating them into my ships. One way or another, pure advanced armor is better than a mixture of advanced and basic of the same size due to...

I have tested it out, and actually used basic as dampening on a few of my larger ships where space isn't as much of an issue. Issue is, having layers of basic will run your AHP out pretty quickly when you're getting shot at. So, you either need a lot of advanced or an absolutely insane amount of...

If I recall correctly, basic doesn't contribute to AHP and only adds to SHP. By damaging the basic, you lose SHP whereas hitting the advanced, you'll still lose SHP but the damage will be dissipated faster.

Ed, it sounds like you want a creative server without the creative mode. Unfortunately, such a server does not exist. The closest you'll come is the PvE galaxy on GenXNova, but that's about it afaik. That said, I'd rather one or two people's complaint not result in something getting screwed up...

If rail dockers were destroyable and invisible, the potential for abuse would be huge.

Paraphrasing Master_Artificer, "If they don't want to fight, why are they not in singleplayer or a private server?"

That'd be the first I've ever heard of something like that. At any rate, people turtling up in an HB is sort of an issue already tbh.

Add more external armor, and use advanced instead of standard.
