      Bear in mind that the most efficient possible reactor mechanically is not the most efficient possible reactor for a given ship. For example IRL rocket engines get more efficient the bigger they get so if we wanted to use the most 'efficient' engine possible we would be sticking gigantic engines...

      Just wanna point out that 400m is absoloutly gigantic for a salvager, even salvagers that can eat entire asteroids in seconds don't normally get that large.

      This is very rough but generally for every 10 fold inrease in damage you only break 3 times as many blocks. This of course means alpha damage is simply a terrible idea in practice, as for damage per projectile (dpp) Panpiper is correct in his statement that you generally shouldn't go over 4000...

      Totally off topic but schine does eventually intend to cater to this kind of player, with factions each selling ships that a player can buy with credits earned by doing missions or selling salvage.

      To be fair the blast radius cap is many tens of millions when hitting adv armor, even using pierce. If your fighting a ship that big then its best to assume that blocks have effectively 0 defensive use.

      Personally I actually use beams or cannons over missiles because missiles are the only weapon with a dedicated counter. Still, the AI setting must be pretty high on your server because missile/beam100% is usually near impossible for PD to shoot down, and far too fast to flee.
