      Also, would a weapon change its type if it takes damage? What if you have a weapon with 400 beam blocks and 600 missile blocks, but you get hit and lose half the missile blocks? Does it then become a 400 beam / 300 missile that operates in a completely different way?

      It's a solid idea, but I think fixing turret AI would be a better way to do the same thing since AI is really weak in common sense. The turret AI should be able to know how far the turret can rotate without colliding, and know to not either move or choose targets outside of that range.

      Oh god no, that's a little too much. Cloaking should be at least somewhat usable in combat, with the main cost of lacking better defensive effects. Simply having the cloak drop (but jammers remain on) whenever your ship or its turrets fire would be plenty sufficient and reasonable.
