Well, I disagree. Honing SM's base mechanics (namely shipbuilding and ship/fleet combat; it's safe to say these are the two things that every SM player will engage in, and what most players are attracted to) is of paramount importance if StarMade is to be succesful.

I'd thought about seeker missiles, but he can probably use all those presents as chaff, so that's out then. Beam-beam would probably work, since Santa's sleigh must be pretty damn fast by necessity of his job, so AI-operated cannons have no chance of hitting.

Early game survival, mid-to-late game RTS. With this in mind I hope RTS elements get more attention, since late game is very important for a game that asks for quite a bit of commitment to get into.
One thing to consider: Docked entities that lengthen the ship without affecting its "official" length score. I'm pretty sure the Amberclad's lower fin would increase its length beyond 137, though I haven't verified this - you could just add a note like "137 metres (main body) or actually measure...
