      Council Resignation Letter

Schine's team has accomplished some really incredible things...but I can't help but feel like we're flying WWII german tanks. The frequency of lag and crashes caused by AABB collisions and LOD issues (usually exacerbated by unskilled, abusive, and gigantism-obsessed players), is clogging what...

Building things should be mostly optional.

If all you want to do is mine, trade, buy pre-designed ships, and level-up, why does StarMade even appeal to you? Why not EVE Online or Vendetta Online?

      Make per-user: MAX_CHAIN_DOCKING & MAX_CORES

Wouldn't that be covered by "...deny entry into root core if whole-entity core count exceeds permitted value..." For counting cores, especially for topics such as public stations, how about counting from the docked entity outwards. This enables newer pilots (e.g. those with lower permitted core...

      Make per-user: MAX_CHAIN_DOCKING & MAX_CORES

Request: Move the MAX_CHAIN_DOCKING server setting to a per-user setting, with server-wide default/minimum. Add support for a per-user MAX_CORES setting, with server-wide default/minimum. Enforce at times: blueprint spawn, fleet command/configuration, and root core entry. Currently...

      Add admin command "/Server_Restart"

Depends upon what you're after at that point. As robocopy lacks many of the features found with rsync, but robocopy could fulfill a basic folder mirror function. Native rsync is significantly faster than robocopy though - so at that point the answer depends upon how large your world is, and how...

      Recognized /add_admin_allowed_comand

If it's a build-only server (e.g. no PVE), set the following in server.cfg: ENEMY_SPAWNING = false You could also /sector_chmod noenter, noexit & peace on a player's immediately surrounding sectors to hinder both unplanned pirates spawns, and any unauthorized departures. Granting the ability...

      Add admin command "/Server_Restart"

A brief sleep would be prudent as well, which can be accomplished by adding the following immediately after a java command, before the goto line: timeout /t 10 /nobreak To replicate rsync functionality on Microsoft's platform, I suggest looking into DeltaCopy.

      Add admin command "/Server_Restart"

Recognized - /add_admin_allowed_comand For my example in this thread, I stuck with the defaults maintained in SM's vanilla StarMade-dedicated-server-* files. Most days our server averages ~8GB of consumed memory after 24 hours (barring the occasional memory leak). You have my sympathies.

      Add admin command "/Server_Restart"

A java process cannot "restart" itself; it needs to exit completely, and then be started anew. To "restart" a server, issue the /shutdown command, while the server instance itself is called within a simple while loop (no wrappers needed). The example script included below will maintain a backup...

Read by Council Warheads - One more setting

Correct. Right now, an attacker basically waits until their enemy has gone out for the day, and then robs them blind. How is this different from a sucker punch: a coward's move. What's the problem with a fair chance to defend/flee?

      That's what I'm thinking.

Too bad we don't have the concept of shield bubbles, where everything has to stay a certain distance away before getting close to structure... *shrugs* But wait...there's more! As for the cowards: Being able to place blocks in violation of block placement rules has been reported as a bug...

Add support for a permission changelog

Request: Support logging of permissions changes, preferably via a player-accessible method. Currently: Changes to faction permissions, or placement of public/faction permission blocks, leaves no logged hints as to who did what. This defect is being used to grief entire servers. This request...

Add MOTD support to custom chat channels

Request/Goal: Facilitate non-intrusive in-game function to consistently and expediently communicate with all players, accessible to both players and admins. Currently: Server MOTD feature requires someone with administrative access to the server itself, a server restart to effect changes, and...

      Universe size

Game automatically unloads a sector when you're far enough away. When it needs to load that sector again, the game engine first checks to see if there's any sector data on disk, if so it loads that. If there is no data on disk, then the game engine procedurally generates your sector information...

      Recognized by Council Server-side suggestions

Another reason for server-side faction pruning support, is that we're seeing more than two minute long hourly whole-server hangs while it churns on a relatively small StarMade/server-database/world0/factions.fac file: ⚓ T1529 Server hangs on faction updates

It'd be nice if this combination also didn't open the tutorial menu now too - which is super-annoying.

Read by Council Integrate a "difficulty" function into /sector_chmod

If this is the direction of things, that would be an interesting evolution. Although to clarify the "harder because farther" idea, at least from my suggestion, was more to effect "safer" zones around specific pre-designed spots. Trade hubs for instance, warpgates, easier mining spots (for noobs...

Read by Council Integrate a "difficulty" function into /sector_chmod

Request/Goal: Enable the creation of "protected" areas, without stripping all NPC spawn chances. Currently: The entire universe is a free-for-all: Pirates randomly spawn; a battleship, and two-block ship, both have an equal likelihood of attracting the same pirate waves. This is not a...

      Recognized by Council Server-side suggestions

Regarding a soft server reset, this could be accomplished using the existing bulk export/import tool, but we'd need ways to also auto-assign factions back to the imported entities as well (of which there is no way to do this from outside the game...existing /faction_set_entity does not have UID...
