Well, I don't have any tricks for filling the hull up with system blocks. To tell you the truth, building the hull always takes me WAY longer. But that is due to being bad at building good looking things....
I'm going to assume you do, but just to be sure, are you using symmetry modes in...
Another thought on anti jamming/cloaking. Maybe instead of using the scanner like we have now, we could just have a "Stealth Inhibitor" that would work the same way as Jump Inhibitors? Think that might be the best route to take. That way the scanner still has its current role of exploration...
As a person that has started trying to design good turrets for the first time with the new system, I do not miss the old system. Granted, its a bigger learning curve. I also find it a tad bit more difficult in that I have to work on 2 entities at the same time to get anything that looks like...
To Nickizzy:
The low numbers I used were just for an example. I imagine the costs/efficiency curve would have to be worked on by the Dev's. I tried to avoid giving any solid numbers for the reason that I have no idea what may or may not work. But I wouldn't think a "Large" scanning system...
I like the idea of the precision values. TBH I just kinda wrote all that out as it came to me, so I didn't really think about the way it might be able to be skewed with size. % of mass to achieve a 100% precision though could work. Would mean that IF you wanted your battle ships to be anti...
I know that this has been gone over before. But while replying to another post... I came up with my own take on the possible changes to cloak/jam/scan that I feel could benefit the game. With my suggestion, each system ties into the others, and (at least on paper) feels like a more balanced...
Is the current shields dropping when cloaked implemented? I haven't actually tried to build a cloaking ship recently so I don't know the current state very well.
THAT my friends is why you should use white hull for stealth. No one expects you to do anything sneaky when you look like you are supposed to be there....
But yes, I wish cloak/jam were revamped. Maybe give cloak a binary system? Like with shields you have your capacity, and your recharge...
Things I don't use:
Light Rods
Most decorative blocks (Excluding hull and lights and a couple others)
Display Module (though I REALLY want to get into using them, I'm just very lazy)
I gotta say, its better then my first fighter ship. Mine was just systems blocks everywhere and zero shields. I may have been shot out of spawn by a single Isanth... Not the new ones ether, this was before the weapon/shields updates.
If the ship only does 1-2 damage per shot though, you may...
I consider reactors in the base as part of the turret. That is where I put them myself. So, I never really noticed the power outage thing as most of my turrets are ether self powered or have none at all. I never saw much use in going half way. Glad to know I've been avoiding a bug by doing...
Hum.... gonna have to "Test" some EMP weapons then. As I imagine, you could do some serious damage do some ships with them. Thinking of the ships that have just enough regeneration to power their weapons and fly at the same time.
Was tweeking some turrets from SkylordLuke (Resources from SkylordLuke) to be self powered, and changing a few other minor things. I started wondering, what other people prefer most of the time when it comes to powering those turrets. I can see some benefits to each type myself, but prefer to...
Didn't realize power drain had to hit reactors or caps... would be nice if they could hit hull/other systems ect. for a reduced efficiency. Who builds ships with the power lines on the outside to be targeted? lol.
no option for "no to both"?
As for myself I've never used those options. I've considered them, but never tried. I think part of it is you need to design the ship with these weapons in mind, rather then "Conventional" munitions. I have considered having some MDP's (Mobile Defense Platforms)...
there are some settings in the config for both "Break Off" AND "Collision Damage" they are both off by default as they both are VERY hard on the CPU of computers/servers. They are lag inducing.
