Yea, but they'd have to be docked to something, and that would be visible :/. Unless... is it possible to dock things to asteroids? Build blocks don't work iirc, but placing down a rail manually and docking to it might!
Pretty much this, I don't see why people should be able to travel between undocked ships with no danger at all. The shields dropping simulates what would happen if you were currently flying between ships (aka you get bent over).
I do agree with the fact that shields should go back to their...
I was exagerating and being sarcastic, basically replicating the sort of mindset Edymnomion has been showing so far to demonstrate, as you said, how stupid that kind of argumentation is.
My honest opinion? I just think that it makes things too easy in it's current state. As you said, a 1x1...
Translation:
"I'm lazy and can't build shuttles, rail trains, gravity tubes, elevators, or use a core. And instead want admin level teleportation with zero risk involved that conveniently takes 10 seconds to set up and makes my ship invulnerable to the hardest ship killing method. All hail...
If these two things were done I'd be happy:
1) The ability to hack enemy transporters to gain acess to their internal ship transporter system. This would obviously not be instantaneous and would require time. Could only be done directly on the terminal, not remotely (leaving the person...
But that is NOT the point. Thalanor doesn't even play on PvP servers. It's just your (very wrong) assumption.
This pretty much proves that you've been ignoring the majority of the stuff written in this thread, or at least not making an effort to understand it.
Comr4de made a valid point. It's possible to limit the amount of transporters on a ship by limiting the amount of transporter computers per entity in the server config files. Meaning that everyone can have what they like!
Doesn't really solve the case of boarding but I'm going to wait on the...
You misunderstand, it leaves open the possibility of an ambush. Getting out of your ship during combat is just as stupid with or without shields.
> Intentionally misinterpreting my argument as walking around in a ship in general.
And oh I don't know, maybe just that fact that it's like admin...
If you do that the shields will drop. Boom, that's the sound of a missile slamming into your unshielded ship.
And please, don't pretend that the almost godlike ability to instantly teleport anywhere on the ship with two blocks is balanced.
Rght now all I see is people arguing about unrelated issues and generally ignoring what the other has to say.
I'll try to get a dev's opinion on this, should end the discussion.
All you people complaining about "forced PvP" blablabla...
DON'T PLAY ON F****** PVP SERVERS!!!!
Everyone was happy before we had transporters, so it's not like losing an NEW overpowered mechanic will change much.
Notice how the OP refers to transporters on the same entity? In your case just having a transporter on the docked ship and one on the station would work.
In addition to what thalanor said above, the current transporters render the astronaut aspect of the game almost obsolete. Seriously, it's almost as good as Tab-F8, without being limited to admins. If you use transporters as your only form of transportation the only time you won't be in a core...
I 100% agree. Transporters have the potential to make interiors impossible to board. Especially if each room is encased in advanced armor and a transporter is the only way in or out.
In addition travelling inside ships with transporters feels sort of too easy/cheap (at least to me). You don't...
