      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

I've never heard this usage, and regardless it sounds... weird, in English. Also, Tech Points are not just there for 'branches', they're there for all chambers regardless of whether you are using a tree structure with the specialization/passive chambers, or only using a bunch of first-tier...

ram·i·fi·ca·tion ˌraməfəˈkāSH(ə)n/ noun a consequence of an action or event, especially when complex or unwelcome. Example: A ramification of having more systems chambers is that your ship won't have as many tech points left over for future upgrades, and might have more weakpoints that can...

The smallest ship will probably still be a core, a single power chamber block, and a single thrust/mobility chamber block (and eventually a chair?). As for the smallest viable combat ship, it may actually get smaller as your power infrastructure will not have to take up nearly as much space.

Nothing! And that's the plan, I think. These kinds of ships would be hugely vulnerable to fleets, so it's no big deal.

Without tech points, bigger is better. Larger ships could fit more chambers and do more things easily. Pretty sure the only new menu will be the power queue and maybe a revamp of the structure menu. Switching chambers is a thing. It doesn't happen instantly, unlike current passives, but this...

Yeah, that's (part of) what I was talking about. Clipping isn't an easy thing to patch out of the game, so I'd rather just preclude the intial possibility.

A way to power turrets without using the main ship's power (thereby circumventing the 2m e/s cap), a way to prevent aux explosions from doing significant damage, some strange shenanigans that allow turrets (and fixed autoguns) to get tons of power in a compact manner with no aux at all, etc.

Agreed. Agreed, but if these core control channels are a more workable solution, I'm willing to take them. Agreed. You can have multiple conduits. This may be what the 'better request system' that Schema's working on is designed to address. Regardless, this can likely be fixed, and the...

      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

From what I can tell, it will actually be a lot less complicated in practice than it looks. You put down a reactor, place a bunch of system chambers (while not exceeding your maximum 'tech points'), you put down some conduits to connect it all together, and then add weapons. Instead of a global...

      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

See, the thing with this is that I understand the reasoning behind it, but everything from the name to the idea itself and its implications... reminds me all too much of games where you drag little icons into slots to equip your ships with things, and you get a certain amount of slots. Which...

      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

It does, but it also still circumvents any balancing measures on ship power that Schine might put in place down the road, and... really, now that there is no power capacity, I don't see any particularly valid use for the things. Turrets should just be main ship guns that swivel. EDIT: Allowing...

Exactly. I see no reason to keep them, and with a power revamp it's time they be eliminated altogether.

      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

Actually, yeah, that system for external reactors is kind of bad. Why not just disable them entirely? Drones would primarily change in that they no longer need space for power capacity, which was annoying (and the base 10,000 power capacity was a bad stopgap). Push-clock warheads might not...

      StarMade Ship Systems 2.0

TBH, why do we need stabilizers at all? It seems to me that everything works fine without them. If we want to have power nodes or something to distribute power in large ships (give the base reactor a max range and create more vulnerable targets in large ships), that's fine, but why stabilizers...

...Also, from the video, what's to stop people from simply filling out their hulls as they do now? It doesn't look like there's any actual advantage to arranging things the way it was done in the video, with everything in small separate units.

Tech Points? Please no... Just call these core CPU power units or something. Other than that, I'll just wait for more experienced systems specialists to weigh in on this :P
