There's a mod for the game called Ares Mod that has these control points you are wanting to make. You might be able to snag parts of that mod to speed up the creation of some of your ideas here. :)

It's rather annoying that it seems to force the file to have the same name otherwise when trying to post a resource update it'll refuse to update and replace the file in question. Has this been fixed or is it going to be at some point?
I just make sure the first couple of ranks have no power of the HQ base and call it a day. That said we need more options to mess around with for factions.
I got very bored one day and decided to do a rebuild and replace of the old basic and advanced shops. So far I've got the basic one done but not going to be doing to advanced one until there is a way to grab that shopkeep spawn block or crew somehow eliminates the need for it.

You have to place multiple rails down normally since the docking rail one only places one rail block down. They have to have the same of their 6 faces on one side to cause movement, what direction the arrows face says the direction the docked object will be moved in.
Working on a spawn common questions station in the starting sector so if anyone has ideas for what questions need to be answered on it or what mini tutorials that need to be added just let us know so we can add it since right now it is a very not-so-impressive spike floating in space. XD
