      Yeah, there are plenty of NPCs walking around the place, though occasionally they bug out. As for the spawn tube not working, that is odd, as I test it just about every day to make sure it is serviceable.

      Yeah, I use it in pretty much every build. Idon't see a reason to take that feature away from single rail docks. Especially not when logic is still activated by a moving entity.
