if you click the hide chat button in the bottom corner it does exactly what your asking about. however, i have also found that it will still maker sounds or new chat updates unless you leave all chat rooms first.

i agree with this, for two reas0ons it makes the current turret system at least bearable. and it would at least at minimum require a full AI rework on the game. which it needs badly.
