You are assuming that the output is located on the front, while the right thing to do is making it exactly close to the computer systems and the core. It also takes time to actually kick the core.

SS makes you lose all inventory and 75% of credits, for example IIRC EMP only takes effect if the shields of the ship are down. So you will need a gun, big enough to deal with this. It's just a uniform wave of insta-kill, I can't see a trick there.
