i think that like in FTL there should be nebulas where your ship is virtualy undetectable like having a cloacker

i must admit perhaps it shouldent have music playing all the way through but instead there could be some abient music every so often like when going to a certain type of planet and the music itself could be techno/dubsteb style when it comes to fighting pirates or boss music when fighting pirate...

especialy if you could put the ships in to some sort of auto pilolet locked on to your destination and then you could using artificial gravity walk around in the ship
