I maybe wrong but it sounds like the launcher is still trying to use a 32 bit JVM. Do you have a 32 bit version still installed? You could uninstalled all 32 bit versions or maybe make sure only the 64 bit JVM is in the windows PATH.

Update: Installed Java version 1.7.0_60 and no difference I'm afraid.

Just an update. So I am running build 20140524_220051 and the problem persists but the ghost images seem to cycle more quickly, almost like a flickering. It's more distracting at this point then a hindrance.

When first going into Advanced Build Mode everything is working as usual. It doesn't take long however, before a ghost image of the previous block or previous orientation is left on the image of the current block. Notice in the screen shot this occurs in both the cube target indicator with...
