I started with jdk and had the same issue. I tried Oracle to see if there was an issue with jdk in Mint w/ the launcher.

I cleared my entire starmade folder. I full reinstalled. I tried another java. Since not 100% familiar I'm hoping something dumb I'm missing. I launch from the .sh launcher provided. The server startup is different text from how it used to start.
