Just a word of advice, dont make promises about getting game features, just remember that schema is the one who makes the final call, not the council.

Vote for me because I'll do the job in a completely detached way and therefore free of bias... and why does the spell checker see 'pf' as a word?

propaganda=information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a political cause or point of view.
Some techniques of propaganda to enrich everyone's knowledge of propaganda:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_techniques
    Ad nauseam
This argument approach uses tireless repetition of an idea. An idea, especially a simple slogan, that is repeated enough times, may begin to be taken as the truth. This approach works best when media sources are limited or controlled by the propagator.
    Unstated assumption
This technique is used when the propaganda concept would seem less credible if explicitly stated. The concept is instead repeatedly assumed or implied.

Common media for transmitting propaganda messages include news reports, government reports, historical revision, junk science, books, leaflets, movies, radio, television, and posters. In the case of radio and television, propaganda can exist on news, current-affairs or talk-show segments, as advertising or public service announce "spots" or as long-running advertorials.

    Cheers, collegues.
As the main idea of the Council is to connect players and the devs, let me state here, that after the election, which may or may not take place, I would represent YOUR opinion and YOUR wishes to the devs, though I have mine on most of the debatable questions.
For the sake of representaton I will abandon all of my personal views to become what a true councillor must be: a worthy catalogue of players' proposals and a fast communication channel.
Also, do not lose the opportunity to have an old hardcore gamer (since 1996...) and an effective manager elected and helping the situation out.
Those of you, who hold servers, may be assured, that their voices will be heard too, as we all hate the way the server side behaves now, perhaps, this is one of the most important sides of game evolution.
    Peace.

I'm a cop. Well, kinda. Not really.

What Rimmer and Linwe said is very true:
Just a word of advice, dont make promises about getting game features, just remember that schema is the one who makes the final call, not the council.
The job of the council is not to act as some sort of expert, but to act as representatives for the players in order to both streamline and add depth to community-Schine communications. Think of the council as the Google Fiber cable giving people good internet access, not as the NSA selectively filtering things that go against their agenda.
That said, you can still push for what you want in the game as a player, but there won't be opportunities to abuse the council position for such a thing.

I would maintain that a councilor should be an expert, so as to better communicate to the community the nuances of the game as it exists and as the devs intend for it to exist.

A councillor should have basic knowledge of the game mechanics.
He should read suggestions and general discussions on a regular basis to know what is suggested over and over again, etc...

You assume that people can be neutral when it's usually always motivated by selfish reasons, I hope that you may be able to find people that really is neutral at work in the council. But if they are to be elected by forum pals, count it clear that it will be unlikely to happen.
Council members are suppose to represent the varying groups of SM. No one person is ever gonna be able to represent everyone, so I just acknowledged the fact that we will have a few people representing the various clusters of bias in the community, kinda like political parties, just without the bullshit and lies.

If Group A argues X, and Group B argues Y, Group C, who doesn't care either way, can be the middle man. Stuff like that.

No one could possibly represent my opinion. That's not necessarily a bad thing, I'll grant...

I would maintain that the council needs a mixture of old-timers, "experts", new voices, good "accountant" types, and original thinkers. All of whom need to be at least competent communicators. Bullies, and conversation-hogs should be dismissed. I also think an actual Schine team person (specifically NOT a council member for impartiality) needs to act as a sort of "Speaker-of-the-House" to maintain order, keep councilors on topic, and determine who's got the floor, amongst other things.
