one of the big problems with using a joystick is that one must position the thrust exactly in the middle in order to achieve no thrust. this is a big problem, as trimming a joystick's thrust system is very hard (try playing with a flight stick and see). there is no real way to figure out the "zero" without going into options. i suggest a system that allows you to
A: add a second joystick for reverse thrust
B: press a button that turns on the reverse thrust.
this will solve the problem, as the "zero" will be implemented as the bottom of the forward thrust, or when both levers are in the "zero" position in case A.
    suggestions?

or you could increase the deadzone in your joystick settings to make "0" bigger :)

No, because 0 stays in the middle. it will make the thrust in both directions a little smaller, in return for a bigger '0'

Look in devices and printers on your PC for your joystick, open the settings and you'll see what I mean.

ahhh. good point. i'm delirious right now so i can't think straight. still though, wouldn't dual trust controls at least be nice?

There should be an option to press a key and use it like beta thrust on an aircraft. Real life pilots and some other people will appreciate that.
