I've built a bunch of auto-extractors but right now I'm working on a concept ship that will deploy multiple extractor modules. So far There are only two problems, one is the AI (which I suspect is being worked on already) and the other is inventory transfer.

Right now, there's no good way to transfer inventory between ships, either docked or undocked. This problem can be solved pretty easily with the addition of an inventory transfer beam.

    Proposed Behavior:

When fired at a storage container on an unshielded or docked structure, the inventory transfer beam transfers the contents of any targeted storage block to the beam's slaved storage block. (at a game-balanced rate)

This would allow the following behavior:

Remote-activated inventory transfer on docking for industry/commerce ships
    Auto-unloading of cargo on station-approach
a rudimentary system for remote signaling supply-chain systems
    better shuttlecraft
    ship-to-ship theft/piracy

Wow, this is good. It would be really easy to use too. Maybe it would not be able to take items if the box had a faction module linked to it?

Although I personally like the idea of breaking someone's shield's an armor just enough to expose their cargo store

Well, that would make thievery easy, but at the same time if servers allow piracy then it would work very well, it would create and actual rush to defend, rather than 'hurr they can't get through, just blast them!'

Tricky decision, but I like the idea. If we had remote control, and this we could create cargo drones!
