IMPORTANT: HUD Radar Blips and the GUI Update

    schema I saw your post about the partially finished GUI update and the completed portions look great so far! You may already have this planned, but this is very important so I thought it was suitable to create a thread.

    I'll keep it short. Several people before me have suggested changing the size of HUD blips instead of making them fade to indicate range. Following this popular suggestion will make a huge difference in the readability of the HUD. Fading blips are hard to see, making them far less useful. It's often hard to see and shoot a far-away enemy on the HUD. With sector sizes and weapon ranges higher than before, this is becoming a real problem.

    I know the screenshots show a work-in-progress. I just wanted to ensure this was brought to your attention.

    Yeah, I hate having them fade. Not good enough. The need to be visible because many people want some kind of beacon block to navigate, already people use a docked core.

    Also, don't bother quoting him in the post, he's too busy to browse the forum.

    The "radar bleeps" are referring to the HUD markers for entities.(the diamond shaped thingies)
    When an entity is at a certain distance, they start fading away with the distance.

    In the dev screenshots, the HUD markers/blips have been altered in appearance, but still fade noticeably with distance.

    Don't sweat it - one of the other devs will almost certainly notice the thread and bring it to his attention if needed. This feature may already be planned. This thread is just here to make a little extra noise about an important feature in hopes it won't be left out by mistake.

    oh yeah i think you should be able to see them 2-5x the current distance, however i do think that you should still only render things like it is now.
