PLEASE HIT THE AGREE BUTTON AND SHOW SUPPORT, THANKS FELLOW PLAYERS!

So I was skimming across the suggestions and seen one about fuel. The thread was very credible but did not explain a way to do such. So here's my explanation.

Everything runs off of "Reactor Modules" however there is nothing that creates this power it just magically appears. Why not have the reactor modules linked to a singular storage block and have a crystal like fuel that must be mined. This fuel will then be added to the storage blocks, in which the reactor would draw from based on its size.

This would add a sense of tactical planning, resource management, and a consumable that must be replaced consistently.

This does one of two things. Creates more mining jobs and the need for haulers to be paid fuel surcharges. Since in turn they will use resources to transport materials. Making the industrial side of starmade a bit more viable. This would also mean the fueling station that was just added would serve a purpose. With it being restocked by the trading guild, players, and admins.

schema Calbiri , I'm not sure how hard this would be to implement. Please feel free to examine and criticize this idea, Thank you.

Seen 'one'. Yeah, nope. Fuel's been suggested to death before, like, really often.
And most of them conclude fuel is micromanagement.

And micromanagement is really annoying to most players.

It's been suggested but with no explanation how it can be implemented easily with preexisting features without having to add more blocks.

Zeno9141 Don't be so sour and dour, like most things it could be a server option. Why not? Some people like micromanagement. It's why things like Cities Skylines and Factorio exist.

It might help with gigantic titanic ships as well.

My sentiments exactly Supra. Everyone is looking to end gigantism. Here's a solution. Noones going to take a large ship that far out with it costing millions in fuel unless they have an invasion planned and a miner escorting them

Meh. To me it just doesn't seem like something to implement in the default game, and I don't expect it to, either.
Not saying it isn't mod material though. With so many threads on it around, there must be some part of the community which will do something like that eventually.

(Also, it's kinda a naive thing to say it will end gigantism. I know I sound like the 'glass half empty' guy, but there's no way to end it, and why should it? It's a sandbox ffs, don't put limitations on things.)

Why does there have to be a fuel? We're playing a game in which we cruise from star system to star system, galaxy to galaxy. I think when you can romp about the universe as you please you can explain the lack of a fuel with extremely futuristic power systems. Such as zero point energy, or maybe some kind of magnetic generation using rotating liquid metals? Anyways the point is, we don't need fuel.

What does everyone have against large ships? If smeone puts in all the time to build a ship, get all the materials to craft each and every block for that ship, and then spawn it in, they deserve to be able to fly that ship around and use it to their hearts content without restrictions such as fuel. This is a sand box game not a simulator, fuel is an unnessesary addition that serves only to limit creativity.

What if there were some sort of resource family that you could mine which would work sort of like the Star Trek "dilithium crystals"; you wouldn't necessarily need one per reactor module, but maybe link your reactor modules to a central reactor core or something, and have 1 crystal power up to X number of reactors for a very long period of time, or possibly forever. This could be configured on the server.

In addition to this, you could have an entire family of crystals, which could provide an increasing amount of power as the crystal gets rarer and rarer, so it would give you a sort of hunt for the best crystal to give your ship the best output. If the period of crystal consumption is long enough or infinite, it removes the aspect of micromanagement which I agree would not be quite as fun, but it would give you a set of challenges if you wanted them (oh no, I'm stranded in this quadrant and must head down to the nearest planet to find some fuel) as well as the added fun and challenge of trying to find that rarest most powerful crystal to upgrade your ship and possibly make all your systems more effective.

So... Larimar crystals! (I swear, blue resources become so rare they are almost lost every 10 minor updates or so.)

actually dilithium crystals are not as needed as they used to be as seen in TNG they get recrystallised in the warp core so fuel never really was a problem after significant technological advancements and big ships have already been murdered because of buy with blocks let us not hit a dead horse by adding fuel it would be a waste of time block ids and would just be tedious this is meant to be a creative sandbox game not a oh you can not fly this shuttlecraft since you do not have enough fuel we do want to have more fun than time put into the game since if you are spending more time then you are getting enjoyment out of it is a loss and as the frengi say a loss is a loss and since we want new players who come to this game o stay it would be a good idea to use the ferengi rule of acquisition 57

Adding fuel would make the game more CHALLENGING, but probably also more ANNOYING. I think there are ways to improve the challenge without being more annoying. It would make a good option for those who want it though.

I agree, it would be a good option. I could definitely see the implementation of a source of fuel to power ships being appreciated on hardcore RP servers, however, to what I assume is the average player, a default fuel consumption system could potentially be a very annoying aspect of the game.

As I said, we have a very easy configuration option in the server.conf files where features you don't want don't have to be used. If you don't like managing fuel, you don't enable it. If you don't like mining, you just give everyone infinite money and make it a "sandbox". I think more depth options are a great idea to have available though. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others won't, and you're not forced to use it.

Begging for ratings won't get your suggestion far. Also, as many people said, make sure your suggestion hasn't been suggested before.

Repeated the word suggestion 3 times. 4 now. Yo dawg...

Suggested approximately 1 billion times. Thanks for using the search bar, or even just looking through an active discussion (there's at least one right now) and just dropping it there.

Clearly some posters are blind or dumb one. As I've said, I've seen this posted before but noone explained a system on how to implement it. The other post with fuel in it, was erased. All it has is food. So either offer suggestions or get off my thread.

P.S: having it as a server option would be cool, that way some of these babies would stop crying, while serious players can enjoy it. Spoon fed, I'm tellin ya!

Drill_Sergeant I see you only just made a forum account so I'm going to give you some friendly advice. Attempting to insult veteran players is not a good way to make friends in this community.

First off, numerous suggestions have suggested ways for fuel to work. Some sort of new ore, a regenerating oil liquid on planets, refining water, and harvesting hydrogen from stars are all suggestions I've heard for how it should work.

Secondly, I've offered my suggestions on fuel on fuel discussion threads. I'm not giving this standard fuel suggestion any better ideas when you should have just contributed to one of the existing ones. "A mineable crystal that provides fuel" is like the #1 suggested way for fuel to be added, anyway.
