Thoughts about the recent trailers and equalty between shipbuilders.

From what I heard, which was corroborated by three other people, was that they went into site chat and start spamming/flooding chat. When someone told them to stop they responded with "rules don't apply to us xD" or something of that nature and kept going. Mods got on but it still didn't stop.



Might have something to do with PvP being banned in 7/8s of the universe

Fun fact: Schema used to hang out in the /vg/ space voxel games thread. The reason it died off and became space engineers general is because he stopped posting in there and focused everything on leddit. But I digress.

You're fucking amazing. I wanted to cite MW:O but I didn't know too much about that drama so I didn't mention that either.

I agree with the OP in a lot of respects. But the issue is not black and white like many state it is. Majorfatboy great post. I agree that things can get that bad. But I don't think they have yet.

The fact of the matter is, whether you like MF or not, they came first. And the ones who come first usually reap the rewards. The only way to challenge MF? Do it yourself. Create your own channel. Get help from fellow community members. See where it goes. Zyrr and I have done so with our Community Q&A. I've even begun helping out on a secret video project as well. The fault lies on both sides. Challenge MF to make better content.

If the devs outright ignore you, which they haven't I or Zyrr yet, that is when we have problems.

Many openly dish out criticism to SM youtubers without trying their hand at it. This is a small community. So it stand, you want something done, do it yourself. Otherwise, MF is here to stay.

EDIT: Tenk, those kinds of remarks don't add to the discussion. Let's not. That is the type of attitude people are talking about.

tenk11kamikaza You're right, it's not MF that is at fault here, it's the elitist group that leads it that is (they incidently represent MF).

Your "MF (I will use MF to refer to the guiding head) is friendly stuff stuff stuff" is just SOOOO wrong. Of course this doesn't include everyone (like you, you were great). However, I, as a decent builder (imho), got LECTURED on more than an occasion on the basics of the game and ship building by extremely arrogant and unfriendly admins of mushroomfleet, including Tomino (surprisingly, considering that he's usually friendly).. I'm sorry, what does he build again? Oh that's right, fucking purple bricks on stick.

Now I admit that that last line was harsh, but I had to get it out (just thinking about this again frustrates me). I was expecting a friendly community, what I got was a punch in the gut. Keep in mind that this doesn't apply to everyone, but it's the mindset conveyed by some of the influential members and is what sticks in my memory.

This was my personal experience from joining your community while expecting good things (I was obviously wrong). I have the feeling that I wasn't the only person to have these impressions (just look at this tread).

Yes, it's sad, but it's the truth. Take it or leave it, but don't deny it.

I understand that it's easier to work with a well-organized group like MF, but the fact that a lot of people see favouritism still stands. I suggest starting more contests like the default station one to give other people more chance.

I wouldn't call it favoritism, SM needs to be able to show the potential of the game in trailers so having the better ship-builders make the ships is like free advertising! (not that you other guys are not good too, you all rock!)

I did contribute too(take the 0.1721 newspost as reference), yet I am not under any NDA(except schema's copyright on his code, which isn't an NDA in the first place). IMO the NDA argument is completely invalid, unless you're staff or can provide solid evidence that you are under NDA on that certain topic.

To be fair when I was under NDA we weren't really supposed to discuss it. There's not much he can do to "prove" that he's under NDA.

I technically still am but everything that was top secret when I was part of the tester staff is in game at this point

I am only going to speak for myself here, I admit I've seen Admins on MF act like idiots, however we try out best not to do that. If you are doing a ship review lineup and you see the 8th brick show up, and you are there focused on aesthetic, and everyone knows that's what the review is about, you might get a little testy.

However, the fact remains that there aren't too many other experienced "YouTube-ers" around for this game. Many of the people on MF have been around for a while(I was late to the party admittedly), and have learned tricks to film things in StarMade. The reason we use MF ships in our videos is simple, typically we have a limited time to do a particular project, we just grab as many people as we need, tell them to spawn in their ships and go. It's not favoritism, it's pragmatism. Beyond that, how would you like to be forced to fly a ship not built by you for no reason in a video?

If you want to make videos for yourself, the SM main channel, or to challenge MF, I think that's a great thing! Competition can only mean better content overall. If you start up your own channel and do something better than me then that's great, honestly, it will push me to get better faster. That is the way I view it, and I know that is the way that many of the MF YouTube crowd view it. However you can't expect Schema to say to someone "Make me this in a week" to someone who hasn't done anything he can see as a baseline for quality.

Lastly, just a point of clarification: Comr4de PVP is allowed in all areas beyond the starting system on the MF server.
