    Greetings,
I recently started building a Cobra Escort ship from the Warhammer 40k universe.
It's going to be one kilometer long, as a compromise between the old 750m and the newer 1.5km measurement.

Replaced the old pictures with the newest progress shots.

WIP shot of the main hangar's doors.

Some shots of the torpedo loading bay I started working on.
These torpedoes are 60 meters long btw.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm actually quite positive I've seen this ship a couple weeks ago.
I've built a handful 40k ships myself over the last year already. With most of them I took a similar approach to detailing as you. I'm playing with the idea of taking another route this time though.

    Alright update time.
I have the groundwork mostly done. The stern has proven more problematic then anticipated but that's fine.
Despite that, I started working on the hull-design. I was tempted to go with the usual gothic style of the models, but instead went with a more Dawn of War like look.

    Thanks.

Uploaded the next round of pics. The hull's progressing quite nicely so far.
I remembered that imperial ships often display the house-insignia of its navigators.
So I added the only one that's documented afaik (it's the one with the two wolves).

I must say it really does look awesome , excellent work so far.

I my self find it difficult to finish large starmade projects because I loss patients when doing the small detailing (after the initial structure). Any advice for a fellow 40k ship builder?

    Thank you.
As for motivation; what I like to do is have a large separate plate of hulls.
Every time I'm bored working on the superstructure I start creating assets on this plate. Vents, radar antennas, generators, decor, this kind of stuff. Later you can just copy these over onto the ship.
It is also helpful to utilize underlying patterns. I divide sections by placing 1 'anchor' block every 3 spaces.

Then I place design elements on the 'anchor' blocks, so everything follows the same geometry.

Wow man! I wasn't aware that you had advanced this much. It's just HUGE!

I am doing a 700m long one and I'm already having problems filling it with details so kudos to you, mate! This has to be finished for the glory of the Emperor.

    Great work.

Alright, haven't had much time to spend on Starmade in the last months. And the time I had were spent building mostly other stuff.
Regardless here are some pics to show that this project isn't abandoned and in fact is making progress.

Awesome! Dem doors. You've always had a good sense for drawing complex forms with little blocks. Kudos.

Eh, 'most all my other ships are blue/yellow.
Repainting this thing should be doable once it's finished, though.

    Hello,

Been a while since I was active around here but I recently started tinkering around with the idea of doing some Battlefleet Gothic hulls. I'm a little taken aback that anyone would attempt a 1 to 1 scale Gothic ship! My own thinking has been to built them roughly 1 to 10 scale. So an Imperial Battleship would come in at roughly a kilometer long which is about the largest most servers will allow.

Here is my first entry the Cobra Escort Destroyer. Its 160 meters in length and still a work in progress. I hammered the whole thing out in a day which was surprisingly fast given the size. Similar sized ships have sometimes taken as long as a month. However I found the sharp angular hull and boxy nature of the design very easy to render in Starmade.

I am just starting a Dauntless Light Cruiser design as well. No pictures yet as its just a series of connected boxes. Still I skipped over the Sword Frigate because I wanted to try my hand at a classic Imperial design. Frankly I'm already itching to take on a Lunar Cruiser but honestly you don't just jump into a 500-550 meter hull without a little planning and experience if you can help it.

So a question to everyone. Is there any serious interest in Battlefleet Gothic ships for Starmade? Obviously the designs are going to have to be modified for the game. Turrets for example are going to have to be on the bottom of the ship as well as the top as Starmade isn't a 2D table top. But if they get built is anyone interested in having them?

    -Thanks

    To answer your question: http://starmade-servers.com/server/729/

And YES, give us dem blueprints! The server is about one week old and there are already several Imperial factions. We would greatly appreciate if the Adeptus Mechanicus would release some blueprints for us Emperor's servants lost in uncharted territory.

BTW, you can check what other 40k ships people have been making in the ship index: http://sm40k.enjin.com/forum/m/20737311/viewthread/13305374-40k-ship-index
