    BTW if you use rod lights, you can reduce the amount of opaque blocks even more. Try blue crystal armor (not glass) with rods. Awesome.

    Ah, good point! Didn't think about the rods at all, thanks!

    And I already used black crystal armor to make it more visible, I don't think that blue glass will make much of a difference tbh. I'll have to wait and see how it looks with the lighting inside of the bridge first.

    Yep, I finished the mini-charon with all systems and the functioning turret :P

    I'm having waaaaay too much fun turning the lights on and off on this thing and looking at the results XD



    The light propagates really well through the glass and makes it look pretty good. That above picture is a simulation of heavy damage to the left front section.

    I sure as hell hope you have the lights clocked so they blink on damage and are off on no damage :D
    There is nothing more epic than having the entire ship interior flash with waves of red on alert (all corridors should have alarm lights in reasonable spacing too - just hook them up to an OR that takes all the individual damage information).

    --Things become less realistic after this line--
    Maybe even have an additional display matrix where you can show actual text to the users (like "ALERT", "INTRUDER", "COLLISION" etc)
    Perhaps even animated, "booting" with a logo of your shipyards, then showing a blank output until something happens, etc)
    If these "show states" were encoded as, say 00, 01, 10 and 11, you could then even LOG them using a couple shift registers (and as such having an actual computer memory core room onboard!)
    CICs are the most fun to build :)

    *gets inspired by thread again, increases projected size of current project by factor 2 to house more logic.. needless to say, there always needs to be a "STOP" button for all periodic logic - an emergency move in case your ship kills the server xD

    how dose this damage reporter work?
    I haven't connected anything yet. The red lights that are currently there all mark turrets (notice the emplacements on the hologram) and docked or to be docked stuff. When one of those gets undocked by getting destroyed the docking block sends a signal to the light (which passes through not gates and stuff to make the light open properly). It's pretty simple, really. I'll see about adding some ship mounted damage sensors but considering the size that might not happen. A turret getting destroyed is already a pretty good damage indicator tbh.

    Edit: Ok, no more sneak peaks till the bridge / captain quarters are done. You'll see the functionality part when it's done, no need to explain all of it here :P

    I've seen your ship advertised in your signature forever but this is actually the first time that I have stopped by to take a good look. I really appreciate the style that you have chosen as it is somewhat similar to what I have going on for my Valhalla titan.

    Honestly though, looking at what you have done makes me realize that I am still but a novice builder and I am amazed at how much you have gotten done on such a massive build considering the amount of time you have in. Valhalla is 400 meters shorter, was started a year ago now and is nowhere near complete as far as I am concerned. Just getting all 17 or so of the decks fleshed out has been an exercise in frustration at times.

    Anyway, I didn't come here to complain but to praise. The ship is phenomenal, you should be very proud. Starmade is more than a mere game, it is an awesome piece of design software that requires little more than an imagination to create. You have definitely imagined something truly beautiful here.

    Maybe :p. I'm pretty sure that the systems are shit for it's mass since it's mostly hull, though.

    Well you'd be better off with the existing soul drones, these aren't just 1 layer of system with 2 layers of hull sandwich :p

    Yeah but think about it. More cool factor if you have mini charons launching from the charon because who cares about efectiveness :P

    What I COULD do is spawn in a swarm of minis and have them attack a godmode base or something with the Charon in the background and take a pic of that :D

    Dock one baby charon into the admiral's quarters - every captain/admiral MUST absolutely POSITIVELY have a model of their ship in their state room. No excuses for such large ships with plenty of space. Make it 80% finished, so it looks like you are constructing it in your quarters in your free time - free RP flavour at low cost!

    Although with a crew of one and crew facilities for one, the whole ship is probably your quarters. SCF technological level for AI neuronal interfaces isn't even close yet, we'd still have to install about 50 quarters or economic toilet/bed combinations (most recent iterations can even be flushed) minimum on a ship that size to make it feasible crew-wise.

    Random news: I improved my cable/energy-conduit design



    I'll be converting the cables on the big turret and the super weapon to this style. I also made a palette to make it easier ^_^ . Would anyone be interested in downloading it? If so I'll upload it to the website, it makes making cables infinitely faster.
