Lots of screen-tearing.

I'm running on max settings, and I'm getting around 200fps which is causing huge screen-tearing issues. I've had to turn on v-sync, but all the other games I play that run at 200fps don't have screen tearing at all. Why?

May you provide a screenshot or video capture of it happening?

Cant really imagine 'tearing' without any visible help.

It depends on how the game engine renders stuff, I guess. I don't know much into the technical side of screen refresh and such.

I don't really see why it matters, though. Unless you have a super high end monitor, 60Hz/fps is the best it will be able to display, so might as well keep V-Sync on.

um noob person here but what is v sync? and what dose it do?
V(ertical) Sync locks your FPS (frames per second) to 60, which is what most computer monitors display at. This prevents the exact issue Elit3 is complaining about, and several others.

The only issue with it is it causes a slighter slower MS rate.

Also, my other issue seems to only happen when I move straight away. I still get render issues but its not much of a price to pay to play.

EDIT: I cant take a screenshot because the screenshot stops the game to take it. If you lower your settings sufficiently, to get a 200+ fps and then look at an object then move your cursor side to side the object starts tearing. It can also start happening when the game's been running for a long time.

Ah okay, so it is sort of "interlaced" mode on ships?
lower half 'turning' with the camera and top half is sort of 2-3 frames behind?

Ah okay, now I can imagine what it is.
I guess this depends on hardware and rendering buffers, as this happened in various games for various combinations on settings.

But will keep an eye on it, my poorer hardware show this often on fast turning, but not when turning slow,
I'll experiment with it a bit.
