Dukuu-sama decided that it wasn't happy happy joy joy enough for the forums. Use the clock/rainbow as a replacement.

I also think there needs to be other opposition buttons as well, for more specific feedback.
    Like/Dislike
    Agree/Disagree
    Funny/Bad Taste
    Informative/Old (still there!)
    Friendly/Hostile
    Useful/Old (still there!)
    Optimistic/Hostile
    Creative/Old (still there!)

On the other hand, maybe this is too limiting, and should possibly be replaced by a multiple-tag-word system. There are some posts that need multiple tags. Some might be Agree/Informative, others might be Agree/Optimistic, and then you might have different opinions on different parts of the same post (Informative/Old).

I loved the disagree button. :(
It really should still be usable in the suggestion forums though, because otherwise nobody can disagree anymore.

I've been using the clock for disagree until it gets re-added, if ever. Hopefully we don't lose ALL of our neutral ratings.

    I don't get it
The disagree button is gone? You can't disagree with things anymore. Basically, this is the site owners a big middle finger to anyone who has a different opinion than someone else.

I'm going to be honest anyone who uses the disagree button instead of actually posting a reply in suggestions really isn't contributing anything at all to that discussion. *puts on shades* I don't believe you can disagree with me.

you should only be able to disagree if you have a reason. a squid disagree with my post, I asked for a reason but nothing. All I posted was a way to start a storey without lost.

The disagree button provided a good function. It mean't that people could voice opinions on a topic or reply without having to actually right a response, which tends to clog up a thread. Removing it means we are going to go back to pointless responses of people saying the exact same thing.

If you disagree with someone I'd hope you are intelligent enough to articulate it without the ease of 'ooo clicky clicky'. Which got abused far too often.

What if your point has already been explained in a thread? I see this often, and rather than just posting the same thing again, I simply give the topic a disagree, and the response I share an opinion with an agree[DOUBLEPOST=1410816600,1410816521][/DOUBLEPOST]It also raises the question of why did all these buttons get added in the first place if your just going to remove them again slowly?

TBH, if we're going to do this, we might as well just go back to the Like button. It was simple, and worked so well. It also accomplished what seems to be the goal of removing the Dislike button, which is to force people to explain what they're saying. Some of the current ratings - Old, Optimistic, Creative sometimes, etc. - are kind of vague, and unless someone wants to simply Like a post, they should have to explain what they're thinking or trying to say. However, if you read another recent post of mine, you'd find that I'm highly opposed to the removal of that button... This isn't baby daycare or Happy Fluffy Cloud Land; if you can do all of these positive ratings you should at least be able to indicate disagreement, and if someone's too immature to handle being disagreed with like a sane, reasonable, intelligent person, then they deserve whatever consequences result from their response. And as for the "clicky button" aspect, I personally haven't seen it abused that much... And what's the issue if a few people DO abuse it, anyway? Neutral ratings aren't Negative ratings; it doesn't make you look bad unless you have a massive pile of them, in which case there's probably an issue anyway and the random lazy or trollish dislikes wouldn't really skew that one way or another. :p

But, just a slightly less negative and far less offensive thought....

If the opinion you share was already posted to the thread before you could "disagree" then just agree with that person who shares your opinion.

    Rimmer,
Say nothing. Let the weight of your silence carry itself.

Silence on the internet carries nothing; it can just mean you forgot about the topic or overlooked the post.

EDIT: Haha, see that Old rating? I told you guys that ratings would just cease to be accurate.

I'm actually waiting for SNK to explain themselves. An 'old' rating usualy comes with some chastisment for 'not being up to date'. or something similar.

They're using it as a surrogate 'disagree' button, which I assume is a piece of purposeful irony, as they disagree with posts saying it shouldn't be readded.

Quite frankly, this site was great without all the kibble. All the fancy jquery stuff this site has going on is great and very useful, but the "social" crap is useless to actual discussion. Want to agree or disagree, write a post or better yet vote when there are polls. Want to express your thanks for a resource or something? Instead of "liking" just post expressing your gratitude.

This. Discussions are going to have disagreements, and that's perfectly normal. Otherwise you just have a huge circle-jerk. Just don't be a huge dick. If there are people legitimately breaking rules with personal attacks, etc, that's what we have mods for.
