How do I make a salvager without a negative integrity? (Power 2.0)

    So I'm just starting to figure out the power 2.0 update, but one thing I've noticed is that a lot of things have to be grouped into cubes, or their integrity will be negative. However, for salvage beams this really can't be done because they need to be separated into long lines to get the most effectiveness from them.
    Since I don't want my salvager to be blown up by a single shot from a player's laser gun, I'd like to know how to not have a negative integrity on my ship - thanks.

    I used to separate my salvage beams with power reactors. Maybe glass or another cheap and light material would work under the new update. Or fill the spaces between lines with cannons for easy cannon+salvage ratios.

    older designs will be... volatile
    check your salv power per group & reduce size accordingly, it should(tm) be stable by then

    Just did a quick test, and salvage arrays only improved with this update.

    Integrity is based on each individual group of blocks, rather than all of the groups linked together.

    Same linked group, but higher integrity because it has 10 blocks instead of 20.

    The difference now is, you have a flat 10 salvage power per block. So a 20m stick now has 200 salvage power.

    It caps out at 28 blocks before integrity goes below 0, for a max of 280 salvage power.
    Rebuild your arrays, save a whole lot of power and mass.

    After 28 blocks, the stick loses Integrity now, which means it becomes very easy to destroy.
    Before the update, you needed 100 blocks to reach a Salvage Power of 200, this was enough to salvage one block per tick.
    Now, a stick of 20 blocks has the same power. Less than that, and you'll mine slower, but any more than that is wasted, so a 20m stick is all you need.

    This is a huge improvement to miners, since this also reduces the number of blocks you need for effects, too.

    for a Salvag/Beam Setup you should be good with 9/9 - S/B wich should give a good integrity value and optimal salvage power.

    Ok, going from everyone's advice (thanks for it), I've found the best way to have a salvager is to build the good old waffle of 20 long beams, as that has the best efficiency, has 200 salvage power, and has positive integrity. You can fill in the gaps between the salvage beams, but this is not necessary as the 20 long beams don't have a negative integrity.

    I wasn't sure if he was referring to groups as individual outputs or as everything on a single computer. I understand you blame me for being too much of a big meanie and forcing schine to push this terrible update or something stupid like that, but you don't need to be such a cunt for me asking a question to someone else in an unrelated thread.

    you can make 4*3x3x3 and place 4* (3x3, 3x3, 1) for 4* 19blocks in a 3x3x15 chunk.

    I have built or refitted a number of ships now using the new power from simple day one scavengers with 20 block arrays, through drones of a couple of hundred and larger manual miners with a couple of thousand to my planet sweeping beast with around 8,000 modules and have yet to notice a single mention or reference to integrity.

    If someone could point it out to me I'd be grateful.

    Take a look at the screenshots that were posted.

    Do you see how Morphix has a salvage module in-slot and ready to build? Make sure you have that block on your toolbar and selected, then point your cursor at one of your arrays (I assume you are using waffle pattern).

    A pop-up tooltip will show the following information:

    [LEFT CLICK] Place
    [RIGHT CLICK] Remove
    [R] Set as weapon output
    Structural Integrity: OK or UNSTABLE [Numeric value]

    The Structural Integrity info is what you are looking for.

    As previously stated, the integrity is per individual array, not for all modules combined (Each linear array has it's own integrity).

    Thanks, I hadn't even spotted that! I was looking to the left where integrity is shown for the main items but I suppose there is some logic in where it has been placed.

    No, you will not. Not for salvage beams. The stepwise ("acid") damage mechanic apparently only works for actual damage.
