*Blows off dust from this thread*
Hey everyone.. just came here to post few pics of my W.I.P. Station.
so far.. i have 8 big hangars in octagon configuration, each one is heavily armoured and shielded, with 45 degree rail blast doors.

Planning on adding a central command structure/"bridge" in the middle. and 8 mega guns around it.
and after that..we shall see where my imagination leads me..

That looks like a pre-rendered model! How you do this?!

Looks great! I think the dish is a tad too big...
[SARCASM}You fool! Do you really want him spending another two years re-doing it? {/SARCASM]

I have to agree though, it does seem a little bit on the large side.
On the other hand, some of that is your brain tricking you, since the only thing "complete" is the very rim of the crater, and the mid-rim trench.
(that trench is beyond ginourmous, but let's face it, StarMade would implode all the servers trying to render 5% of a properly-sized Death Star, and it needs to keep all those TIE fighters somewhere.)

    agree with both
its a combination of abnormal FOV,half finished skeleton, huge mid-rim trench (needed if I actually want actual ships to dock there) and of course the large dish, which will HAVE to be powerfull enough to kill the entire planet in single shot.

its 100m in diameter (the dish)

i tried 110,and 95,90. they all felt to me personaly too small or too large,so this is where i settled with

Agreed. And, as this is a Chibi-Death Star, the proportions are perfect. (y)

The reason the dish looks funky is it's sticking out, not embedded in the hull.

    indeed it is,good eye :)
its some 11-13 m out, need to tweak that.

also,is there a way to make beam range shorter than the default?
The main beam will be normal, but 8 smaller ones that converge on the main one, need to be way shorter to appear like they are actually convering on it

Rail docker beams are the only way you can do it unless you have them hit something I think.

im guessing damage beams will ignore any docked entity that tries to stop them, and they will just go through?
Probably. Could also use shield supply or power supply I think.

Actually, If I recall correctly, Damage beams from a docked entity will collide with the geometry of whatever they're docked to, while it's built-in weaponry won't.

So, use a small damage beam "docked" to a rotated platform to aim at the convergence point.
the convergence point is a single block of forcefield (any color, but must be part of the main weapon entity) that only toggles on just before the converging beams fire.

    Should work.

I've got no insight to the various Supply beams, so I can't help there.
