I've been practicing some custom modeling lately. and even though im still very much a noob at this I think I made something pretty nifty.

A Combat knife!

Its basic and untextured but I think it looks pretty good for my first real attempt. Then I gave it to dave.

You're aware this is starmade right? Curve would mean more polys, which is bad

Besides, slashing knives are curved. This one is for chopping and stabbing.

when i was designing this I looked at the way the existing equipment items were designed and found that they mostly use flat surfaces. it makes sense seeing as how the game has a blocky aesthetic and also is a good way to make it easier for the game to render it.

While it wasnt that hard to do, I can see now why we dont already have a 3d model for both the sniper rifle and rocket launcher. they will require some new animations.
