Hi there! I'm Crusade. I'm in training to become your new supreme overlord.

I've added 3 new categories to Community Content:
Turrets (put your turrets in here)
Templates (put your saved templates in here)
Configurations (put your custom configs here)

RP and PVP subsections for Ships and Stations

Custom configs are not to include block edits or additions - those fall under mods. The purpose of the Config section is to allow server owners and users to upload and share their configs with the public.
I hope to see optimised graphics settings, for performance and troubleshooting popping up in here!

I hope I can bring more helpful additions to the forums!

Also I added a mech created by AtraUnam and pixel-arted to an Emoji by Exozen

    :mechbird:

    Peace out!

    -Crusade

P.S. This isn't a major update or anything - hence post in General ;)

I don't think sub forums will help, I rather see everything condensed where viewing traffic is much more consistent. There few "porn" threads where people share screenshots of their builds have the most traffic because they're all in the same area.

They aren't sub forums - they're categories in community content where you upload your ships to.

Was the differenciation between RP and PVP really needed ? I mean theses term are abstract and everyone doesn't have the same point of view. For example ships with a few beds, table and a bay is enough to be called RP while for others it isn't at all before you got enough for more than 200 crew members. In fact it put a barrier where it shouldn't because they can be both and well built. It's up to the taste of every builder and bringing a border between theses two things is just saying : "Here the evil guy that want to kill stuff and here the casual guy that is kind with everyones." It doesn't makes sense to me.

In my experience a shipwright who has been at it a while has two distinct styles for RP and PvP builds. This is because that's what users break down their primary search criteria for. Big BOOM vs Ooooo Pretty. The reason for that is there's just certain things you can do, while building, that are useless to a functional PvP ship. An RP vessel has more leeway but if it can't PvE then it is more of a shell anyhow. It's really just a way of distinguishing the intent of the shipwright.

Oh good, we've been needing a specific category for turrets for a while now!

Well upload it to sketchfab and give us a preview. Like so:
This is a Stiletto class fighter/drone. It's intended as RP because it's to be used by NPC pirates in PvE situations but doesn't have the punch of anything PvP.
It's just the full URL form of the address bar link from the file you upload. It's easier to work with than screenshots since you can go into first person view and almost literally tour the insides.

Once we can get a good look at her we can help you figure out if it fits better into what most folk look for in an RP vessel or a PvP roflstomper.

    Love the additions.

How about categories for drones and torpedoes and the carriers that launch them?

i did add the sketchfab, though i'd suggest you pilot it against something it's weight before you judge (ai can not even utilize it's turrets). (utilize distance to your advantage)

"I remember this one from the Blood and Steel tournament. Make no mistakes folks, this ship packs enough heat to kick the ass of anything in its weight class AND looks damn good in the process. Inside and outside. Now that she had her due overhaul, I can only recommend this ship for RP, PvE and PvP too. (and I'd love to see how my Archer would fare against it. After all, both were originally built for the same tournament :P)"

"This is the most impressive ship I have ever seen. It is totally a role play ship, it would pass muster on the hardest core role play server. And yet, it was entered into an elimination tournament for pure combat designs, in which it went up against pure combat focused monsters. In spite of this, this amazing ship placed third! I could not possibly be more impressed." - Panpiper

"A superbly executed design. Deadly, complete, beautiful, and doesn't skip on the interior comforts!" - Dalmont

Your reviewers have already told you what they think it is. It is an RP ship. I would put it in the RP section and bill it as PvP capable. It seems to be a near ideal balance between the two that I'd recommend it (based on the reviews) for PvE on PvE/PvP capable servers.

could i still put it into "ships" then? the thing is i did build it with the intend of coming up with something pleasing both worlds so not really a fan of having to decide now? Crusade

i don't see why not. i doubt all ships are going to be forced into one or the other. the distinction is there for you to use and users to exploit for their needs.

I'd like to point out that when the crew and quarters update comes out (this is listed as being officially 'in development'), there will be little distinction between RP and PvP ships. There will simply be ships designed after the update which will effectively combine the two, and those designed before the update. Of those designed before the update, the PvP ships will be for all intents obsolete for anything except cannon fodder for crewed ships, unable to be retrofitted to equip crew, and therefor frankly substandard. Then there will be the roleplay ships that likely could be upgraded to use the new system.

A ship like Drakkart's Scimitar will absolutely rule the skies after that update. A ship that has the RP space, but can also hold it's own versus current pure combat focused designs, when it adds in crew bonuses on 'top' of that... It's going to be awesome!

Honestly - that entirely depends on how they will implement it. If it is true I will simply remove the sub-categories
